Interesting Yahoo! Answers I.D. ... anyways I used ephedra-based products, pills and drinks, as a pre-workout supplement not for losing weight. It does work! Always had great workout sessions while using it.
However, it suppressed my appetite a tad too much to were I dropped down to 165lbs, I'm 6' foot by the way. I had to force myself to eat which is not good if your a "hardcore" lifter. Ephedra also made me extremely agitated and I had to check my temper, especially when driving home from the gym.
I quit using ephedra when they banned it a couple of years ago and stuck to just caffeine-based pre-workout drinks, Red-line was the strongest. Now I'm stacking Avant's "H.E.A.T" and ErgoPharm's "Amp". This stack is great! It has a nice "clean" and euphoric energy feel and there is no "crashing."

Prescription diet pills are useful for severe obesity problems. These pills are regulated and their side effects are monitored. Some of these pills are Meridia (Sibutramine), Xenical (Orlistat), Adipex, Bontril, Didrex, Phentermine and Tenuate. Xenical is a lipase inhibitor, decreasing fat absorption by 30% resulting in a lower calorie intake. These pills will not be effective for losing weight , if a conventional weight loss plan is also not followed. More information available at http://www.toloseweight.org/weightlosspill.html

I have been taking ephedrine for the past 2 years now on and off as your suppose to. As long as you only take 1-2 pills a day its safe and drink a tonnnnnn of water. Side effects are usually increased heart rate, sweating, insomnia, and suppressed apetite. However, I can not tell you where I have purchased them as it is illegal now.
