Then you should read the book, because if it's possible, it's even better. Stephen King goes more in depth with each character he also makes you feel pain, sympathy, hatred and joy, all in one book!
And I agree, it's a very good movie.
Did you also like Shawshank Redemption? It's one of my favorite movies and also one of my fave Stephen King books!

A very disappointing film, from the director of The Shawshank Redemption (which was an excellent film). The story is ridiculous, and has no creditability.
The execution scenes are extremely unsettling, and you would have to be a sadist to find any viewing enjoyment in it. In fact, the entire film is mean spirited (but what do expect from the amazingly sick, and overrated mind of Stephen King). The fantasy elements also mix unevenly with the prison drama setting. I'm not sure why anyone would ever want to watch this film more then once, but to each their own. Also, there was absolutely no reason at all that the film needed to be over three hours in length. The story didn't demand such a long treatment.
Do you get the idea that I really didn't care for this film??

Yes, it's an excellent true-to-life fantasy. I was especially intrigued by the strange ending, showing the man and the mouse who were living "forever." The movie would have been complete... even without that. It was a marvelous extra touch.
