what would you do if your mother-in-law was using your spouse's credit and social security and ruining it?
my bf's mom is out of control! my bf's only 21 and his credit's being messed up by his mom! she somehow got a hold of his ss!
it is of my business because my bf gets REALLY upset and he thinks of reporting her; but then she cries and makes him feel bad!

I'm pretty sure she has always known his number unless when he got older he got his number changed.
He needs to contact the credit bureau and let them know what's going on, then he needs to get a copy of his report and anything his mother has gotten or used his number for he needs to take her to court so it can be taken off his report.
My mom did us the same way when we were younger. When I moved out there were old bills is my name she had to pay them because I sure as Heck wasn't.
But you need him to take the steps above.
Good Luck!

He has to take care of this...and soon! She can ruin his credit for the rest of his life! Instead of calling the authorities, he can call the credit cards in "stolen" and call the social security office to apply for a new social security card. Or, if he would like to get his mother in trouble (as she very well should be!) he can call the police and report her for identity theft. Good luck!!!

Well tell him to stay strong and also tell him:
1. don't take no for an answer
2. ultimately this is going to hurt him in the long run
3. not to let her become his crutch
4. even though it is his mother he should not feel bad she should though because if she really loved her son she would not be using him
5. that the decision is really up to him but you support him and you are there for him. maybe that is what he need at this time.

He needs to tell her no. In a few years, when you want to buy a house, car, or get another credit card, he wont be able to. He will have a large debt to income ration.
she is ruining his future.
trust me, good credit is hard to establish, and keep

She didn't somehow get ahold of it, she's the one that had to apply for it at his birth and they mailed her the card.
He has to take care of this and it's quite frankly none of your business.
