Yankee fans booed Mickey Mantle constantly so it goes way back. This year it was one of the best in the league also, Alex Rodriguez. Many teams would love to have him but when he doesn't get the clutch hit in NY they send him hate. They act like all the money Steinbrenner spends comes out of their own pocket and when what they want to happen at the right time doesn't they boo. Not all Yankee fans mind you but enough to ruin it for most.

Ya... hey wishb, go sit and be quiet with the other fans of teams without double digit rings.
As for Yankee fans being the best in the world? We just expect alot. I always hear guys at work saying stupid things like, 'Well, the Twins did good this year. They made the playoffs'. Big freaking deal. Give my grandpa some steroids and he could make the playoffs. When it's time to cheer, we'll cheer. When it's time to boo, we'll boo. But unless we win it all, the whole damn season has been for crap. Tradition is important, and these high paid, manicured girly men all stars we got had better learn to live up to the greats like Joe, Lou and Whitey.
EDIT: Hey, and Richard Below me... B low me.

You don't know what you are talking about. You have never seen fans boo their own player for for not doing the job? Obviously you haven't seen Red Sox games, as they booed Coco Crisp a lot this year, as he didn't do as well as they expected.
As for Myers, there are two reasons why he was booed. First of all, they were mad that Torre pulled Wang, as he had retired six in a row after his bad inning. Second, Myers is there for one reason, to get out left handed hitters, and he didn't do the job, and gave up the homer.
A lot of players are booed, mainly pitchers who don't do the job. You are just trying to make something out of nothing to try to get at Yankee fans but you really do now know what the hell you are talking about. I'm sure the Cardinal fans booed their pitchers plenty of times this year, after all, you had what THREE EIGHT-GAME LOSING STREAKS??

You've read the responses from the Yankee fans. Any wonder why they keep them in the Bronx where they can't harm the general populace? St. Louis fans are very knowledgeable and polite. The Yankee fans are knowledgeable, in a homicidal sort of way, and in no way polite. If you are even vaguely cute, as your avatar indicates, you would be the subject of howling and hooting any time you got up from your seat at the Stadium, possibly a habit learned by the Yankee fans in their cell blocks. As for Philadelphia, they booed when Santa Claus came out between quarters at an Eagles game. Instead of a lump of coal they got Terrell Owens, but that is a subject for another page.

I been a Yankee fan since i was 10 years old(1978) & never been a fair weather fan(as if i all of a sudden don't care about them when they where bad in the 80's & early 90's. I'll admit sometimes some fellow Yankee fans get a lil too extreme though but I'm not like that.

I have been a Yankees fan before they had all the superstars and I always will be. I get called a fair weather fan by my friends because I now live in California. I wouldn't say we are the best fans in baseball I would say we are the craziest. We are brutal too which is why its tough to play us at home.

If you love baseball and you're loyal to your team,
you're the best kind of fan there is.
I don't think any fan should boo anyone from their favorite team.
It's bad sportsmanship and just proves
how small a " fan " you really are!
Shame on you guys that boo my sweet Yankees!!

I have been a Yankee fan all my life win or lose, world series or not. ... what bugs me is when people say that we all jumped on the ban wagon. just cause there the winning team......
I don't know what games you watch where the fans don't boo there own players, every game that i have ever watched the fans always boo there players, that's what baseball is all about...... we laugh, cry, boo, Cheer that's the American way. anytime a pitcher gives away a run a home run everyone boos.....
Cardinal fans are no beter that us YANKEE fans.

u must understand that new yorkers are different than most other americans. when we are upset its usually easy to see. yankee fans also expect a lot. we pay good $ (more than anywher else) to see ballgames and we dont want to be dissapointed.
by the way , cardinals fans always look like sissys when i see them on tv
