Food For Thought On Immigration.....?

In 1857, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney issued a judgement in the Dred Scott case ruling that Scott had no right to sue in federal court because neither slaves nor free blacks were citizens according the U.S. Constitution. Are we not in a sense going back in time with the whole Hispanic illegal immigration issues of today?

Yea but what do you expect... we are dealing with people who are in essence Backwards....... People will take offense that you used a "BLACK" issue to compare our current situation too. I also compare the Civil Rights movement to our current problem because Black America fought for those rights.... and according to the "WHITE" man of that day it was "ILLEGAL = AGAINST THE LAW" Our beautiful black America took on White America and won. They paved the way for any oppressed downtrodden minority to fight for their rights. People of today are offended by the comparison because they wish to live with mule blinders on.... that way they are not faced with the truth.

An amendment to our constitution took care of that problem.its the same ones the illegals use for anchor babies..

It gave slaves and free blacks the right of citizenship,it was never meant to be bastardized to provide welfare to an illegals child, and should be repealed.black Americans are just that full Americans as they should be.illegals have no rights in this country except to be treated humanely by our law enforcement agency's..Your analogy is wrong.

Lucky.....you are incorrect..in 1702 when my ancestors came to the New World there were NO LAWS against immigrating to this country......No laws broken because there were no laws.....The first laws against mass immigration were not passed until 1924.There were some exclusionary laws against certain races and country's but no laws against mass immigration.

This country does now have laws against entering this country with out proper documentation.ANYONE that violates that law becomes an illegal.

Like some other people mentioned, what's the keyword in illegal immigration? Hmmm maybe illegal. Everyone wants to make it into a big racial issue but it's not at all. If people in the U.S. have to obey the laws then so should everyone else, illegal is illegal, and people who break laws should be thrown in jail!

illegal immigration starts with our EMPLOYERS whom want the cheap labor stop them you might end illegals! I am in-favor of stopping any type of Immigration for similar reasons. The adverse affects that have occurred robbing families whom have been in this country for several generations & never surpast the grips of poverty! Yes taken pride in your own fellow legal citizen first as priority #1.

What sad logic.... according to what you insinuate, all people all over the world should have the rights of US citizens. The Chinese Premier should be able to vote on our next election, cuz if he can't, its like how we used to treat blacks.

Absolutely.....Remember NOT all laws are moral or just....Slavery is a perfect example....The underclass, will never have rights as long as there is no voice to represent them....It takes a few brave souls to come forth and take a stand, such as Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks...

Everyone calls them criminals, and while some are true criminals, the majority are just seeking to escape poverty, and work for meager wages, we criminalize them for this? Doesn't seem right or fair....

In my opinion, this is not the same because the slaves and free blacks were brought to this country against their will. In current immigration cases, the people come to our nation voluntarily and knew they were breaking the law.

I am all for legal immigration, but not allowing people to break the law.

I think, through proper channels and paperwork people accept many different types of immigrants. The problem is the illegal immigrants.. because it is illegal. It has never been illegal to be black, white, mexican, or arab.

Illegal is illegal. They break the laws if TODAY. Not 1776.

The blacks were brought here under NO option. Hispanics like to jump the fence knowing it's ILLEGAL. This question is trying to take part on the opposing side of right. Watch your grounds and before you try to reason get your facts straight. There's my thought, so give me my cheeseburger!
