I'm from S. Cali. Can anyone recommend a cheap place to buy furniture?

MY fiancee and I are moving into our own place?? Any suggestions? Ikea is one but any that are better and maybe cheaper?

I have a lot of Ikea furniture. But What I have noticed is that a lot of "ethnic" neighborhoods have cheap furniture stores that stock high-quality SOLID WOOD furniture. Veneer sucks. It really does. But I have seen Chinese furniture stores in the San Gabriel Valley that sell reasonably inexpensive tables and bedroom sets. They're not modern bauhaus trendy fashionable like ikea. But the stuff is DURABLE. Likewise, I have seen nice Shaker furniture sold at mueblerias in East LA and on down to Whittier. Solid wood stuff. Nice, made at the shop by hand! You can even get it unfinished and stain or paint it to your liking.

And if you are up to the task, you can even haggle down the prices at these places.

If that 600-700 is CASH. You can look at 800-900 sets. You will just have to visit a store it won't work on line. You can wheel and deal for furniture just like you can for anything else. And CASH is a LOUD talker. Good Luck:-)

Check out any consignment shop, go to Goodwill, Salvation Army etc., you can find a lot of good stuff if you really look hard and try Craig's list under free stuff......
