Is Álex Rodríguez's new nickname Mr Choketober?

As a Yankee fan I have to agree with you. Prior to him coming to New York he compiled all of those HOF numbers in meaningless games. Now that he is part of an organization that is use to winning pennants and world series, it doesn't seem like he can handle the pressure. Making $252,000,000 doesn't endear him to the fan either. For that kind of money he should be hitting .400 while banging out 75 home runs and driving in 200 runs a year.

How do you know he won't hit the deciding hits in the next game or thereafter? Then what? He'll be the hometown hero? He would never forget how you all treat him. He's a two-time AL MVP and 10-time All-Star, ARod is a .305 hitter with six homers and 16 RBIs in 31 career playoff games. Its the nature of Yankee fans to boo their best players. Mickey Mantle, one of the best ,if not the best, was booed for years in NY. I think ARod would be better if not for the booing. ARod was born and raised in NY,NY. It effects him. The fans act like the money comes out of their own pocket. But that said. What may be an acceptable level of stress to one person may be a crushing burden to another, even if that person is a professional ballplayer. That doesn't make that person less of a man or less of a player, it just makes them an individual. ARod is going to be a Hall of Famer and I hope he goes as a Mariner. As far as what "The Mick" had to say about the money... would you have turned it down, saying I'm not worth it? LOL

Yes it is. In fact the team nickname should be changed to the Chokees because of their legendary collapse against the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS and because they haven't won a World Series since 2000. Everyone hypes them up to be the best team but they choke. Their fans are also the worst in baseball. I can't remember how many times I have been to Oriole Park to see the O's v. Chokees and there is always a group of Chokee fans who start acting obnoxious, using foul language. The ushers and police always have to boot them out. What kind of fan is that? Act responsibly at a ball game. People take their kids to games. They don't need to hear that kind of language.

Its also a shame the Chokees get prime time and the A's v. Twins play all afternoon games. But its all about the $$$$. I can't wait to see A-Rod and the boys choke again!

I had enough of him. He just kills us all the time in the playoffs. I have not said anything all season but yesterday was it. From what I understand if he has the same postseason like the previous years Yankees will move him next season.

I think Tim has it right.. HE is a small market player. The playoffs are too much for him. Yeah he has a good regular season but when it really counts he flops. Not like Reggie and Jeter and Mariano and guys like that.

He has not handled the bright lights of New York too well. This is not Texas where after football training camp starts baseball is invisible or Seattle where he had Griffey or Randy Johnson's shadow to hide behind. Everything is magnified 1000 times over and maybe he is a small market guy.

It's not just October. His stats look good because of the watered down pitching in MLB. When the real greats played, like Ruth Gehrig, D'Maggio, etc., there were only a handful of teams, so there were only a handful of pitchers, therefore, only the cream of the crop, for pitchers, would even make it to the big leagues. A-Rod beats up on the weak pitchers (and there's alot of them) in MLB. Unfortunately for him, not many weak pitchers make it to the playoffs and we can all see what happens for A-Fraud.

Please, Mr. Steinbrenner, put A-Rod on waivers as soon as playoffs are over.

It certainly appears that way. He's great in the regular season even in this "bad" year his numbers were pretty good but once the post season hits he disppears. If he gets hot now watch out but striking out with bases loaded sure doesn't win him many fans.

I agree with Richards comment, he has been doing a great job, hes one of the many power full hitters on the team. this session all i saw was home run after home run... so he chokes once in awhile give him a break all good players do, i like to see YOU in his position. Gonzales(gonzo), Berry Bonds, Pujos, just to name a few have all choked this session. BIG DEAL....
