What type of ball is used in Little League? I'm told it's not a large softball, so what then is used?

A regulation Little League baseball is actually a tad smaller than a regulation Major League baseball - to compensate for the smaller hands of the player.
Some leagues have adopted use of a RIF (Reduced-Injury Factor) baseball.
RIF-1 is spongey, similar to a Nerf ball.
RIF-5 is firmer, most kids able to compress it only a little bit.

They do not use a big softball. That is used by the girls. The little leage balls are 1 and 1/2 inche smaler. And the cork inside is softer

It is an official, little league ball, not much unlike a regular big league ball, a little softer, basically same size.

JON T IS RIGHT IN REGARDS TO THE RIF INFO. HE IS WRONG ON THE SIZE, THOUGH. THE LITTLE LEAGUE RULES ON BALL SIZE AND WEIGHT ARE IDENTICAL TO MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL'S RULES. ALSO, THE RIF BALL IS USUALLY USED IN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL'S OFFICIAL T-BALL LEAGUES.
