Pelosi's Agenda for the First 100 Hours of a Dem Congress: What do you think?
The Dems are unveiling their priorities if they take over the house with a "first 100 hours" Agenda.
Sounds great to me! All those asking "what are the Dems running FOR", here you go...
Day One: Put new rules in place to "break the link between lobbyists and legislation."
Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Time remaining until 100 hours: Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step. Cut the interest rate on student loans in half. Allow the government to negotiate directly with the pharmaceutical companies for lower drug prices for Medicare patients.
Broaden the types of stem cell research allowed with federal funds -- "I hope with a veto-proof majority," she added in an Associated Press interview Thursday.
All the days after that: "Pay as you go," meaning no increasing the deficit...
There's more at the link...ran out of characters.

Thanks for the link. I hope the Dems make it. There are a lot of Republicans that haven't had contact with the real world in a long time. They may continue to vote for unending war and a legislative branch of the corporations, for the corporations, and by the corporations.

They are lying, look at where the money comes from and who it goes to, the dems are in the hip pocket of the lawyers and lobbyists and giant corporations, not to mention the odd socialist nutcase billionaire.
With the exception of what the dems have blocked, the recommendations have been completed according to the commission.
Take a look at the links it will tell you who is owned by the lobbyists, lawyers, unions and insurance companies. You must live in a fantasy land to not be able to do some simple research to find the truth, either that or you have been brainwashed.
They have to do the minimum wage because the unions will have their scalps if they don't. You do know the ONLY people to benefit from an increase in the minimum wage are the unions whose contracts are tied to it. You people and this minimum wage thing, you keep harping like a fool and you do not even know who gets the big bucks.
Who is going to invest in student loans if you cut the interest? Who is going to lend money if there is no return? Get real and study some basic economics before running off with your "free" socialist agenda.
If the government takes control of the pharmaceuticals one or a combination of two things will happen. First the quality and research for new treatments will drop off the face of the earth. Second there will be a black market develop for better quality and newer drugs. The pharm companies are not in this to lose money, many stocks will collapse and the companies will simply go into some other business where they can make a profit. If you want to fix healthcare turn your attention to the profits of the insurance companies and then research who is getting the millions of dollars for their campaign coffers.
If you want stem cells why not just start a cloning plant.
Everything you have said has a cost and the way the government works it is going to be a huge and unreasonable cost. Who do you propose pay for it?

Sounds good. Too bad they waited until now to try to do it. Hmm...you cut before she mentioned rolling back the Bush tax cuts for incomes above 250,000 to pay for the "pay as you go". Then she says "Details will have to be worked out, she emphasized." So maybe all of our tax cuts will be rolled back. Isn't this just "tax and spend liberal economics"?

Sounds like a good start in the right direction to me.

I guess the best thing to do is just make sure it doesnt happen so we dont need to worry about what she does. Its a frightening thought thinking of her with any kind of power. <shiver>
Dems win = terrorists have a fighting chance and our taxes go up.

What you didnt put is her plan to "cut and run" in Iraq, broaden abortion rights and tax the living hell out everyone to pay for all of it.
No thank you, the less liberals in office the better.
