Yes I took care of a young girl age 2 that had 2 thumbs and the doctors removed one that had less mobility in it. She had full use of her hand and other fingers after the surgery. Depending on where it is growing they should be able to remove it without much of a problem.

My son was born with an extra pinkie finger on each hand. It was really weird it looked like the tip of a finger hanging on a string and there was no bone. The doctor cut it off before he left the hospital and it left a little scar on the side of his hand. He's 8 now and a healthy young man. It was not genetic, unfortunately I don't remember how rare it is I believe it is 1 in every 10,000 births.

This has something to do with their genes, I'm pretty sure it can be removed . A baby in asia was born with two arms on one side and they removed one so they could do the same with a thumb. Six fingers was also mentioned in the bible.

Just don't make a big deal out of it.My parents did and I had more trauma being in the hospital in 1952 and 1954 for an extra thumb on my left hand.Back then it was a big deal.

That happened to an old friend of mines older brother. Only he had an extra toe. Unless theres somthing seriously wrong with it, it probably wouldnt be harmful if it stayed there. If her parents want it removed I'm sure it wouldnt be that big a deal either.
But I could be wrong.

I've heard of it before. It can be removed also. My son was born with congoined toes on each foot. Every person is unique in their own way.

there's a major league pitcher, Antonio Alfonseca who has 6 fingers on each hand. It's rare, but not unheard of.
