Hoop skirt question?

I have a six-bone hoop skirt that I bought to go under a civil war gown. The problem is that the hoop is a little too big for the gown and makes it too short (brings it up about 5 or 6 inches from the floor), though you cannot see the hoop once I pinned the ruffle up. My question is, can I take out the sixth hoop? I'm thinking it might help with the length problem, but I'm also afraid that once I take it out, it will never go back in again. Any advice?

I would take it out but yes you might not get it back in later on

maybe buy a 3-4 hoop slip on eBay of you don't want to take a chance on ruining the other one

Most hoops have a sort of hook to unfasten them. You MIGHT be able to simply unfasten the sixth hoop without removing it from the material. Refastening it might be a real trick, but you wouldn't have to get it back in the material.

Ever wonder why you never saw cats around hoop skirts? They were always UNDER the skirts.

Add another piece of material to the bottom of the skirt to cover the inches that make it short. Or add a ruffle.'
