To people who like to go to crafts fairs to buy stuff....?

I never expect the items to be extremely cheap, after all, they are hand made. You must pay for people's time, and most items at a crafts fair take a lot of time to create.

I decide to buy if I find something I really, really like; know that it is unique. If it meets this criteria, and it can't be found at any store, and I can afford it - I buy it!

I recently bought a wood sign from a craft fair for $35.00. It was cute, well made and the price was right for what I got. They even personalized it for me.

I knit slippers and I only charge $5.00 per pair. But I don't sell at craft fairs.

I figure the cost is based off of supplies, time to make it, and cost of the tent. I buy a lot of art from local artists, paintings and the like, and if your horse don't look like a horse, I'm not spending my money on it.

It depends on what type of craftsmen you are talking about. For instance we have a couple of crafts fairs here where the items can be kind of expensive, BUT, the craftsmanship is high quality.

Also, it depends on what is used to make something. For example I can go to wal-mart and get yarn that costs 2 or 3 bucks and knit up a scarf and sell it for around 8 - 10 bucks, but if I get higher quality fibers they will cost more. I made one cabled scarf where the yarn cost me 65 bucks. I certainly wouldn't sell that one for 8 -10 bucks!
