Why do people customize their cars with add-ons worth more than the car?

Because they think there a race car driver when really there just burning gas and money.

I was with you until the 4 cylinder car part. There are some very fast tuner cars out there. As a matter of fact, for someone who wants to get involved in racing (legally), compact cars are a great way to get involved and good performance can be gained with relatively low expense. Give me an hot tuner car on a winding road course and I'll spank a v-8 muscle car.
