Ouch, WinXP requires a minimum of 128 mb RAM. And even with 128 XP will run slow. For a decent running XP 256 to 512 MB is needed.

XP will run slow with 64 MB of RAM. Best to get at least 512. I would suggest just getting a new computer. They are so cheap nowadays.

Yikes! Windows XP is what's killing it.. .. Mostly.
Windows is very much a ram-hog, XP especialy, and severely not meant for that system. Honestly, i'd recommend installing Linux, preferably Ubuntu. But, i'm sure an older version of Windows would do it. However, removing XP with be a wonderful start.

there are lots of reason but in your case
first you can buy other 64 mb ram i think it not possible to get new one so go to buy one 128 mb ram and remove old ram and install the new one and install the xp again.
you must use good antivirus software bls. a virus also ,make your pc slow

This may only have a Pentium 3 CPU, and todays programs use a lot of RAM. I am surprised it does not freeze, when a program such Word is used. Buy her a new computer. That RAM will not support Windows x-p.

wow ...64 MB of RAM ... that's too low .... get a 512MB chip ... but your pc seems to be old .. it's better to get a new one, the motherboard might not be able to handle new hardware ... what's the cpu properties ? Pentium 2 or 3 ? what's the frequency in MHz ?
to install the chip just look for the green chip that is similar to the new one you got ... and just plug it while the pc is off ... usually there are 3 slots of RAM

the most effective would be not using windows xp.... windows xp requires a lot of memory and with 64 mb of ram in your old pc it would be really slow... i suggest you install a lower version of windows such as ME or 98... i think that would be fast enough for that OS.....

that's popular for 32-bit variations of abode windows laptop working structures. you are able to lose everywhere from 256MB to 1GB because of the might desire to order address area for reminiscence-mapped I/O instruments. A sixty 4-bit version of abode windows won't have this concern, or a 32-bit version of abode windows that helps PAE (actual address extension) once you initiate the laptop, the BIOS could properly stumble on all 4GB or RAM.

ha ha ha..my dear friend...windows xp eats memory like anything
best os for your sis's comp will be windows 95...
as of now you can try increasing the virtual memory...might speed it up a bit...and defragment your hard drive regularly...
