I'm pregnant and want to know how to get rid of this smell....?

I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant and for the past week or two I've been noticing this bad smell coming from down below...I haven't had sex in over three weeks and this started well after the last time I got with my hubby. Also after I had sex but before the smell I went to my first check up and they tested for everything so I know it's not an STD.....I shower just about every day or every other day but notice this even a few hours after being all clean. There is discharge as well but nothing too much out of the normal. I don't understand why this is happening and want to douche but I know it's not good in general to do that...let alone do it while you're pregnant.....I have an appt next week with the OB doc so of course I'll ask then but do you have any advice that will help me out?

Menstruation is the body's way of cleansing itself, and it gets deprived of that service during pregnancy. Tell your doctor at your next checkup, but if you aren't having any pain or burning when you pee, you're probably OK.

There are a million new hormones going on now that your pregnant discharge and ordor is completely normal. I buy the feminine wash for the shower and then you can also buy smell good powders for your underwear. They both work well. But other than that there isn't much you can do it comes with the joys of pregnancy. I am very worried about it all the time I try to take a shower right before bed so if my husband wants to get romantic I am not so paranoid but other than that there's not much that can be done. Doctors say not to douche while you're pregnant although i have a few times. As long as you don't put it up too high it's not too bad. You can try creames for odor control. I've tried a few different ones. Congrats on your pregnancy.

I had the same problem with my second pregnancy for several weeks. It smelled like onions and there was a clear discharge, and no amount of soaping seemed to help. Actually, it burned a little when I urinated the first time after showering, and all the washing made it worse. My midwife told me it was completely normal, the smell and the burning, and recommended that I switch soap, and try using just a little bit on a washcloth. She told me it might come and go as the pregnancy progressed; thank God it didn't come back after week 22.

It may be yeast or bacterial infections but it may just be changes in hormones. I don't like the way I smell when I get pregnant but my husband didn't even notice that big a difference. You can try the external feminine wipes they have now or a quick rinse with vinegar and then a drip dry. If you have been wearing pads due to the discharge, try the scented or odor-control kind or try going commando and letting your body air-out a bit. Mind what you have been eating, onions, garlic, tuna, and a host of other foods can affect how your sweat, and personal lubrication can smell.

I hope that helps until you get to the doc.

I had one too, I think it is just from all the discharge, but still check with your doctor...the smell went from 7 weeks to 11 weeks for me, its gone now and everything is fine...def check with the doctor

You can have a bad smell with both a bacterial infection and a yeast infection. It is imperative that you go see your doctor immediately, I do not want to alarm you but; it could cause a miscarriage.DO NOT WAIT AND SEE IF IT IS JUST HORMONES.

Because you are pregnant, there is nothing that you can really do. Just try to wear cotton underwear and use feminine powder or spray. Make sure that you use a pantyliner, that might keep you fresh... Good Luck!!!!

it sounds like it may be a yeast infection. Normal discharge shouldnt smell.

I think that is normal.....because the first few months i had the same problem i thought i had a UTI and got tested and it turned out negative...so i think that is normal.
