I have a degree in biology and worked as a program developer for people with disabilities and as a chemist in an environmental lab. I developed a seizure disorder while working in the lab and am still at home on disability until we get them under control. I have three little boys aged 4 years and 2 years and one who is brand new! I am really enjoying the time at home with them. I have collected a lot of trivia and information over the years and love to learn new things. Just for fun in college, I studied Latin, Greek, Greco-Roman mythology and culture and have since studied religion, culture, and just about anything else I can get my hands on. As I approach 30 I am beginning to find that I have had more experiences than I think I have.

  • I need help unscrambling this phrase. QLMPCCATSRUUB It is supposed to be three words.?

It is a clue given to a 14-yr-old boy about his birthday present from his deadbeat dad. I can't see it. There seems to be a vowel or two missing. The man has an eighth grade education so it may be spelled wrong or the boy may have a letter wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why can we not support each other as women and mothers?

Frequently I see questions and answers that display our insecurities and hostilities to each other because we have to work, want to work or have to or want to stay at home. Why all the issues? How can we treat each other like this and expect men and the business world to treat us with respect. I stay at home because I have to. I would want to if I didn't have to but would have to work if I could. Why such a double standard among ourselves. Women who work are neglectful and selfish, women who stay home are lazy and wasteful. Women who bottle feed are lazy, selfish and bad moms, and women who breastfeed are disgusting and "hippy". It is hard to believe in yourself as a mom and believe that you are doing you best. It is even harder to believe it is good enough. Why are we so quick to bicker instead of support each other? We know breastfeeding is best, some women can't. We know our kids need us at home, some women can't. How dare we treat each other this way!

  • All of the R&S regulars, can you believe this?

They have deleted yet another of Laptop's accounts. It seems that instead of honest information seeking, Religions and Spirituality has become a contest to see who can submit violations. I'm done, it used to be fun, but this is just getting ridiculous. Sorry. Those of you that I call friend can always email me.

  • Would this be indoctrination?

So, I am quite amused by the FSM. If I were to buy my boys t-shirts to wear, even though we told them that the FSM is not real (I know, blasphemy), would it still be indoctrination? Or would it just be a little good humor?

  • Did the plumbing of Rome contribute to the rise of Christianity?

Rome was plumbed with lead pipes (thus the word plumb). After six generations or more of lead-poisoned water, Rome is forced into Christianity. Is there a connection?

  • What makes wrong wrong?

It is usually wrong to kill another human because our life is made precious by respecting other's lives and that other person has value and a place in society. Theft is wrong because another has worked and acquired an item and it may be of special value or importance to them. Both basically because we wouldn't want them done to us. Adultery is wrong because it violates a trust from a loved one and can bring disease and illegitimate children into a home. There is a real reason that wrong is wrong. Why are each of the commandments wrong? Why is homosexualtiy wrong? "God said so" is a cop out. If it is wrong, it is wrong for another reason too. I would like to hear why?

  • What is an atheist's opinion of modern pagans?

Us pagans and atheists are frequently on the same side in arguing the idea of Hell and damnation but what is your opinion of the mature worship and rememberance of the old ways? I'm not talking about those who dress as fairies and cast spells they read in Harry Potter, but those of us who wish to honor the old ways and embrace science as yesterday's magic.

  • Are you feeling mean tonight?

We have decided on the name Liam James Shannon for our third boy, I need you to make fun of the name as if it were the second grade (or middle school) again so we can ensure we haven't doomed him to a horrid fate.

  • Christians = Hypocrites?

Christians on R&S repeatedly whine about atheists answering questions asked of other Christians. When someone asks a question about magic, there are all kinds of dire warnings about going to Hell. Want atheists and pagans to hold our tongues, try it yourselves. If not, stop whining when we point out the flaws in your mythological structure. Do you not see the hypocrisy or is it just okay because God said it was?

  • Did Jesus invent CPR?

Since he "brought people back from the dead" how do we know he didn't just give them the "breath of life"? Tongue-in-cheek, yet interesting. This one is courtesy my hubby.

Why can't you spell? "monkies" "tought" Try spell-check before you try to out-think the thinkers.

  • Why are you so threatened by Atheists?

There has been a rash of questions that have the general feeling that so many Christians are threatened by the presence of Atheists on R&S. Why? Why are you more threatened by the atheists than the pagans, or the muslims? If you know God loves you, then why the fear?

  • If Jesus was Jewish, why do so many Christians eat ham on Easter?

There are an awful lot of Easter and Christmas hams. Jesus wouldn't have been able to eat the Christmas or Easter dinner.

  • Do you really not know the difference between Big Bang, abiogenesis and evolution?

I'm sorry, the anwer to this question is obvious but I just can't help myself any longer. Have so many of you had so little education that you do not understand the difference between these things? Please understand that they are three different explanations for three different things. They are not linked except in the most liberal of senses and if you really want to know why so many of us believe them, you honestly need to read, learn and understand.
