what is the best way to clean a 8' x 6' area rug?

I used a power washer on my area rug this last summer, but I had access to one. You might just try hanging it over a fence and beating it with a broom...(that's old school for sure)...Or you can clean it by hand with some carpet cleaner. I think if it's at all possible it's best to somehow get it wet.....rinse until water runs clear, say like with a hose if you can hang it outside somehow...Use the carpet cleaner and a medium scrub brush before hosing it off, it should come out pretty clean.

Hope this helps. I know they're big and awkward, For the most part you should only have to clean them thoroughly a couple times a year...

I like dragging it outside and thrwoing it over something to beat all the dust out with the palm of my hand, then spray it down with an instant rug cleaner and vaccuum dry. Its just quick.

Go to a laundromat and throw it in one of the really big washers

hang it on the line and pressure clean it doesnt take long and if it is a hot day dries quick.

go to a carpet cleaner

I have mine professionally cleaned, but be careful it doesn't bleed.
