What do you think of precognition?

There are many well documented cases of its occurence. Has this ever happened to you? (i.e you dreamed of something before it happened, etc.) In your opinion, what do you think causes it? PS I'm mostly interested in scientific stand points

There are theories out there that suggest there is no "time," and what we think of as time is nothing but a measure of change of states. After all, when one maps it on a graph, one must allow a fourth dimension onto the graph. I think of it much like the two dimensional "Flatlands" characters must think of the three dimensional world. We are not generally equipped to perceive the dimension of "time," but there are some who catch glimpses through unknown means.

Only small occurrences of precognition have presented themselves to me; scenarios like my causing a child to cry by accidentally knocking him over while turning around (you might say this is not precognition, but not only did it occur but every particular, such as who yelled at me, how the child cried and what the lady did to me by way of punishment and what she said occurred in exact concurrence with my vision of it about 5 minutes earlier--like an instant replay.)

Another doubtful but suggestive occurrence in my experience was a qualm about parking my car along the road for fear it would be hit at a park that turned out to be justified, as a drunk driver hit the car about a half hour after that as he swerved to avoid another car. Too bad I didn't park it somewhere else, but at least I wasn't in it at the time!

Good luck collecting stories and theories!

P.S. Concerning string theory below, it is mathematically proven but not experimentally proven. Some people say it treads the line between science and philosophy pretty closely! But maybe that is not a bad thing!

I have experienced this. A scientific viewpoint? Time is not so much a continuum of past present future. If we can remember the past, experience the present, why can't we see the future? It just depends on how you perceive time.

I like a Buddhist viewpoint that an event sends out waves through 'reality' much like dropping a rock into a pond and some people, who are very relaxed and open minded, can 'feel' the waves.

I fully believe in it. It's happened to me since I was a small child. When I was 2 (I'm 21), my parents gave me a play telephone. I would call and 'talk' to people that I didn't even know, then tell my parents that 'so and so' was coming over (someone from their past that they hadn't spoke to for a long period of time). EVERY time, they showed up that day. My husband has dreams that happen in real life afterward.

In physic,..u have 2 theories that governed nature : gravity theory(theory about BIG things ONLY such as earth,sun,.planet,..solar system etc).....and quantum theory(theory for SMALL thingsONL.Y such as atom, proton electron,neuron,...etc)

These 2 theory CANNOT explain the universe,...because at BIGBANG,...u start from small to big...CONTINUESLY...so u need a UNIFYING THEORY,...which is called STRING THEORY.(MATHEMATICALLY PROVEN.).

In string theory,..all matters are actually VIBRATIONS....(so we are only vibrations,...actually)....just as MUSIC.....!!!!!

When we all vibrations like MUSIC ORCHESTRA,...if u r a musician...or a born talented musician,...u can guess/intuitively knows what is the next tune...more accurately than normal people.( like NAME THAT TUNE TV SHOW)

It is ur subconscious brain that produce that.

The next tune,...is what we called THE FUTURE.....

I hope i can be more help.Good day.

I don't believe it, the mind simply explores many possibilities & some understandably happen.

Many times, I don't know what science has to say,but I've learned to use it to my advantage.
