Are religious schools responsible for atheists?

Well since you wrote this question in response to mine.

Yes I believe the close-mindedness and closed world view of christian schools are often the cause of atheists. Christians that are so insulated from the rest of society receive quite a culture shock when they enter mainstream society. They are not often ready for the torrent of criticism and hate that will undoubtedly come their way. I imagine you're experience caused you to see truth as a relative term rather than the absolute Truth in Jesus Christ you were raised as. We live in a society today where it is ok to be Christian as long as you don't practice Christianity. That's why you see so much hypocrisy. Christians are put under so much pressure to be worldly that many if not most of them crack under the pressure from time to time making them "hypocrites."

My question on the other hand referred more to how openly against Christianity the modern public school system is. You can't be unbiased when it comes to this subject. It's just not humanly possible. My guess is when you got to college you started to experience all the biased christian hating rhetoric I've heard all my life.

I went too both , a public school, and also a private school, so I got the best and the worst of both and I can tell you from experience that what I learned in private school was vastly superior to that of the public school. I especially enjoyed the Bible classes. It gave me a very firm foundation for life in the 'real' world. I latter went to collage, and university, where I found very few that even knew what the Bible says or even had a knowledge of who God is and what He wants from us. Their ignorance was phenomenal, no I was not a Bible 'thumper', and I did poorly in evolution classes and Paleontology, those were trying times for me, the instructors did not like me in the least, especially when I would blow them out of the water with the facts and not the suppositions that they were trying to teach. I held onto my faith with daily Bible study and prayer.

Because people are hypocritical does not make God so. You are responsible for the decisions you made, and should be grateful that you were at least taught the Christian perspective.

Sounds like you have unresolved issues with individuals, not churches, religion, God; non-religions, athiests. Unforgiveness in the heart(thoughts) will hold you in bondage for a long....time! Unforgiveness is the root of all bitterness within.

It is not Christianity (or any other religion, or nonreligion) that has a challenge to face.

Every individual has their own thoughts, and beliefs that they hold on to;their own opinions.

Not everyone in a church thinks, or believes the same. We are all unique individuals with our own gifted personalities.

I really never thought of it like that, but everyone I know who went to Catholic school ends up quitting their religion. Why? I don't know, but I went to 6th grade at a Catholic school, and I no longer id myself as Catholic, but admittedly there were factors at play other than just that.

You learn a bit about religion in public school.

I partially blame 8 years in catholic school for my loony behavior.

They didn't play a part for me. Somehow I managed to dodge that bullet! I was peppered with everything else though.
