US Army Air Corps WW2 Question?

Before, during, and after WW2, one United States Army Air Corps base (located in Northeastern U.S.) had runways so short, that many landings ended up in the river for B-17 and B-24 Planes. What base? Where is base located? Second listing on question.

No many bases had B-17's at that time. Like Mitchell Field in Mass. MIT institute oversaw secret test flights. But the base you are talking about is Bowling, which is now Bowling AFB, located in Washington DC, next to Anacosta river.

Dyersburg Army Air Base at Halls, Tennessee. This was the only base east of the Mississippi that had B-17's. The river in question is the Mississippi.
