Gift idea for college student?
I need a gift idea for my cousin who is in college. Not a gift card though.
I should say that my cousin is a girl, also looking for ideas for my brother, also a college student, living home, has everything, he's into music (drums)
Thx

I have to agree with Diamonds about the money issue for the college student. I know you don't want to do a gift card, but it might be a good idea. College students are usually REALLY hurting for cash, so a Wal-Mart gift card would probably be much appreciated, so they can buy small things they need (things we take for granted like tooth paste, shampoo, etc...). It would probably be accepted more than any one gift you can give them.
And if you are really that opposed to a gift card, or just plain cash, then I agree with diamonds again on the "care package" idea. Necessary items placed in a basket, wrapped up with some colored plastic wrap, and tied with a bow. Even a "bath and spa" basket would work, since your cousin is a female. Things to include: Shampoo, Soap, Lotions, Toothpaste, Antiperspirant, etc.

I agree with the one person about the basket of college goodies. My friend got one one year and I was jealous!! It was a laundry basket with detergent, quarters, plastic cups, dorm food (easy mac, ramen noodles, etc), dry erase board & markers, etc... It all was very handy!! If they are out of the dorms, maybe you could get a new house kinda gift set...
It also depends on what kinda person your cousin is... If they are a big drinker maybe get them like a bartenders kit? Or like a Beer Mug or Shotglass set... If they are old enough of course!!
I got a blanket that's made out of sweatshirt material with my college name on it - they got it from my college bookstore - one year and I looove it. College hoodies/t-shirts always come in handy as well, and they can be expensive from a college students viewpoint!
But truthfully, above all, a college student always needs money!! Be it a gas card, a gift certificate to the bookstore, the nearby grocery store, their favorite restaurant, etc... But I understand how that's a bit impersonal. But if you make it for something that they like, it's not so impersonal! Just a thought...
I also always love to give/get magazine subscriptions as gifts... They're easy and usually well recieved!

Do they need something for college or their dorm? What about a gift basket with notebooks, pencils, pens, and gift certificate for groceries....or maybe some food? College kids are always hungry. A gift basket with fruit, some bottled water, crackers, pretzels, snacks, etc.
Or maybe a flannel sheet set for their bed? A blanket with their college theme on it?

Honestly, your cousin will want and need money. Another option is a basket of things to take back to school (fleece blanket, roll of quarters and laundry detergent, snacks etc.)

Hohoho :)
Bor or girl?
What about a ticket to a sport event?
Or a personalized coffee mug?

meercat has said it best I think, but for either boy or girl, maybe a nice miramac throw - on special at Costco right now, but not expensive anytime. At home or away, they will appreciate a warm cuddly!! I KNOW!!
