Do you humidifiers work?
I have a cold. (Yuck!)
I can't breathe, I'm all stuffed up, I feel groggy.
My co-worker suggested buying a humidifer. Do these really work?
$50 is a lot to drop on something that may or may not work, you know? I'm desperate enough to do anything to be able to breathe though!!
Also-- if humidifiers don't work, does anyone know any other remedies?
I'm taking Tylenol Cold and Sinus-- NOT WORKING
Sudafed Strips- NOT WORKING
NyQuil- KNOCKS ME OUT, BUT I'M NOT HEALED :(
Please help!! :(

If your in "that" bad of shape, then I would suggest that you go into a hot steamy shower or bath and breathe the "hot water vapors" from the steam or water vapors from the hot tub of water..(water flowing into the tub will give you the hot vapors you need). This will help with your congestion more than anything..(Its what Doctors recommend for children, when they cant breathe!).
A humidifier will only give out "cool water vapor", and will help a litttle, but not as well as a hot water vapor for the sinuses and lungs.
Also, a humidifer in the Winter time will make it "feel warmer" because your adding humidity..(be careful on how much you add, because of the Mold factor!), and it will definetely warm up the place better with about 40% humidity in the air.
It will also keep you from getting "shocked" by static electricity that builds up in the Winter time, because of exceedingly dry conditions. You need "some" moisture in the air so that it doesnt dry out your sinuses.
Also, humidity will keep dust down. The dust particles are "heavy" with humidity and they will stay on the ground, instead of being airborn when its dry condtions.
I wish you well...

A humidifier is a stunning element to have for while toddler (or you) receives ill or stuffy. i might recommend you get one if there's a historic past of allergies or allergic reactions on your loved ones, in case you have pets, if all and sundry interior the enjoyed ones smokes (although in the event that they pass outdoors to do it), in case you're no longer making plans on breastfeeding and in case you haven't any longer have been given an air purifier. My son and that i lived with my dad and mom until eventually my husband and that i've got been given married, while toddler became 15 months. I had an air purifier in our basement mattress room, in a house with 4 pets, and a historic past of allergic reactions and allergies. We ran the air purifier each and all of the time to help clean the air and used the humidifier, perchance thrice interior the entire 15 months. i'm undecided it would be a necessity nevertheless for the quantity of instances you are going to apply it, except as I stated above, there are pets, allergic reactions etc.

Be careful with humidifiers. they do work for some people but i have found that the moisture they create breaks down my immunity and i get sick again faster. Advil cold and sinus is really awesome. also, tylenol with sudafed non drying always works wonders for me. Nyquil is a really good medication but the alcohol breaks down your system as well. there are these jelly beans i get for my daughter at wal mart and the bottle is like 2.95. they are called sore throat jelly beans. they have zinc in them and help you gain your strength and dont taste that bad either. take that in conjunction with a vitamin or airborne. that stuff really works, but doesnt taste the best :) hope you feel better!!

If you have a cold try taking Zinc logenzes and a good dose of vitamin C and for your stuffiness you should invest in a product called Vicks-Vapo Rub Humidifier that cost less than you describe and you can go to the local Wal-Mart who should have them in the Pharmacy area. ( Oh by the way, it works )

Hello. I have had asthma all of my life and I am a strong believer in the humidifier. I use it at night while I sleep regardless if I am having trouble breathing or not. I always wake up able to breath. I hope this helps you in your decision.

First, get rid of stuffy nose (I am assuming you have one) by take a steam of hot (not boiling) vaporing water.
Avoid cold drinks, ice-cream, etc. Take your medicine after having some food (breakfast/lunch, etc).
Hope you feel better with this

Yep they do..the best kind is the one's you can add Vicks to...I used to hold my head close to the steam w/ a towel over my head..The steam loosens all the congestion up
