STL Cardinals are the best team to ever play the game. Time to rectify the situation btw the Tigers and Cards. Didn't turn out so well for the Cardinals last time.

I do beleive they have a few more Pennants and World Series Championships than the Tigers.

It's easy for you to sit there with 20-20 hindsight and ridicule everyone but it's just sports! Don't you get it?? People make predictions everyday about every game played during that day. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. What's the big deal? As far as the Cardinals being the best franchise ever, that is a matter of opinion. Every fan from every team in every sport likes to think that their favorite team is the best. Hell, even the Cubs fans think their Cubbies are the best.

You're not telling us anything we don't know. We're watching the playoffs so what is your point? As far as your Cardinals are concerned, they didn't have a very good regular season and with 79 loses certainly didn't distinguish themselves as an elite team. If they win the series it just proves that every so often the playoff system fails. I just hope the Tigers win because they had a much better regular season and deserve to be world champions, not the Cardinals.

I think I get what you're trying to say.

For the money they're paying their payroll ($89M) they have to be the best World Series team for the money seeing that the Yankees blew a wad to sit home and watch it.

Just goes to show you anything can happen in a short 5-7 game series.

Realize that if they do win it all, their 83-78 record (The Mick 7 above is wrong about 79 losses. The cards didn't have to make up a rained out game from earlier in the season because it had no bearing on the final standings) would be the worst full season record by a winning World Series team in history.

I think the best label to put on them would be "Worst World Series Team Ever".

While the Cardinals are most certainly one of the greatest baseball franchises, and for that matter sports franchises period, of all time, the last time I checked, they are nearly doubled in champioinships by the Yankees. NY has won 26 titles, the most in any sport, at any level. The Cardinals are 2nd.

You are right that ESPN loves to pick the Yankees & Mets, but with those lineups, it is hard to pick against them. It's great that the Tigers & Cards made it, and both are far more deserving than the Mets or Yankees.

But to say they are the best ever...when they are barely half way to the # of titles NYY has, is stretching it. Top 3, absolutely, but not #1.

Because most people hear what the guys at ESPN are spewing out of their media giant rooting mouths....about how good the Yankees are and about how bad everyone else is.

Now that the Cardinals are in the World Series (because they won the games that count, and stepped up when it mattered most), all these people obviously can't admit they were wrong, so they start spewing out, "Lucky" and "Well, they won against a 'beat up' Met's team", and "You'll see...they'll lose"(this is now the 3rd time they are saying this one).

All their overpaid teams bit it, and now the sore losers come out of the closet. I love it.

This question is foolish. Predictions can be wrong. However they are based on more reality than your "best franchise ever" statement.Teams can get hot or cold. The Cardinals could have missed the playoffs in the last week with the same team. They came close. Would you have asked this question then too?

Just a few reasons They lost to the Red Sox in the 2004 World Series. They lost to Houston in the Playoffs in 2005. They seem like a bridesmaid and never a bride

Because in 2004 the choked versus the red sox i mean you dont even remember that they were in the world series they only talked about how the red sox beat the Yankees You know its true.

both the tigers and the cards are the worst m world series teams ever, thats why nobody is watching because they know that the best teams arent in there...i would rather watch a little league game... cheater and all...
