Excel help?

I have been adding information into a Microsoft Excel worksheet for the last few days. A couple of days ago i saved the information as usual, the next day i went to open it and it won't open. :-(

Excel opens but the work area is just grey, all the tool bars and everything else is there.

When i open the worksheet i saved in Word i can see the info i have been saving, so its all still there it just won't open.

Any ideas why?

Update:

I can't copy it from word to Excel, it just comes up a complete mess :-/

There are no viruses.

Don't think i have auto backup.

Update 4:

I have done a new work sheet, saved it and opened it again with no problem.

I'll have to see if i have access and try using that.

Update 6:

There is no back up file.

I have tried restarting my PC and open it again, it still doesn't work.

There are no cells to format, i was hoping u was right when you said you think the font is just grey and the background is grey but there is nothing there, it doesn't open anything.

I am using the same version of Excel that i started with and its the same PC.

Update 7:

I opened Microsoft Excel, selected Tools menu, clicked Options and opened the Options dialog Box but there is no Save tab. All there is is Transition, Custom Lists, Chart, Color, View, Calculation, Edit and General.

    The file has been corrupted. this is what your statement means. But you are lucky to have the information in a word document. So what else copy them to a new excel spreadsheet. If this doesnt solve your problem, and would like to re-install the microsoft office package, go to Control Panel and click on the Add/Remove programs icon. this will bring out the list of programms installed on your system. click on the Microsoft Office Package.

    Re-istall the Office package, but before doing this better scan the whloe hard disk for viruses.

    TIP : Atleast the next time you would not lose your data.

    Open Microsoft Excel, select Tools menu, click Options, this opens an Options dialog Box. Click on the Save tab. Check the check box stating 'Save autorecover info every' and give a number in the text box. this number is what time do you need the system to autosave your information. It would be better to have 1 minute for a non-UPS supported system.

    This works for other Office Packages also.

    If you have Excel 2003 then you can import data from one workbook at a time. This will recover your data if it is not corrupted but you will lose some formatting. If you do not have Excel 2003, send me the file and I will recover for you.

    If you do have Excel 2003, here are the steps for importing data from another spreadsheet:

    1) Click on "Data"

    2) Choose "Import External Data"

    3) Choose "Import Data"

    4) A navigation box will appear. Maneuver to the file location, highlight and click "Open".

    5) You will see another box that lists all the tables (one per sheet) contained in original file. Select one and click OK.

    6) You will see another import data box asking you "Where do you want to put the data?" Choose a start cell and click OK.

    7) Your data will appear in new sheet.

    8) Repeat above steps for additional source workbooks.

    I think the file is corrupted. You should open the your excel back up file to and save it as the current file. Have u tried restarting your PC and open it again? If it doesn't work, use your backup copy. If you don't have a backup copy, try to format the cells, i think the font is just gray and the background is grey, set your font color to black and the background white... If it still doesn't work, your file is really corrupted, or ur using a different version of Excel. Are you using different PCs or just one?

    1) Check your computer for viruses- they mess with Microsoft products a lot.

    2)Do you have an autobackup? If not, it's time to do this moving on.

    3)Try saving a new worksheet and see if the same thing happens- if so, your excel is corrupt.

    Your data is still there- excellent, but you might need comp usa or something like it to help convert your file. You could also try opening the file with Acess, which imports files pretty handily.

    this may ensue if the cellular is formatted for dates before you enter the fee. attempting to modify the format at the same time as there's a fee in the cellular received't help, when you consider that a diverse inner fee is already being utilized by technique of Excel. (some human beings write their dates that way, so Excel obliges. no longer particular a thanks to procure 42345, because the fashion 41078 is how Excel internally represents the date June 18 2012.) The cellular must be regularly or style format *before* getting into the fashion you want.

    Hmm. Can you copy the info from Word and then send it to a new Excel worksheet? Perhaps in doing this it will save all the codes you originally had, if not then atleast you will still have the date all set up.
