Different in all states. In Wisconsin you can register the same minute you vote. In Texas you have to register at least 30 days before you vote.

It's too late to register to vote in the Nov.7 Congressional Elections. You must register one full month prior. However, You can still register to vote. The Presidential Elections are not too far away (2008). Thank Goodness!!!

The time shrink to sign up to vote is 15 days merely before each interior reach and statewide Election Day. To be eligible to vote interior the November 4, 2008, usual Election, you may desire to sign up to vote by way of October 20, 2008.

Some states will allow you to register at the polls. Some have a cutoff deadline. You'll have to check with the local Clerk of the Court (I think) or maybe it's the County Recorder.
