freeze dry tubifex and parasite?

I know live tubifex carries parasites and what not... Does freeze dry one carry them as well?

I fed my fish dried tubifex a year ago and the everybody in the tank got sick and I swore off tubifex but I'm rethinking it now.

I don't think any parasites/diseases can live through the freeze-drying process. I use 'em, and I haven't had any problems.

Just be careful not to overfeed with any freeze-dried products - they are notorious for causing constipation which can lead to swim-bladder disease.

I feed my fish (23 tanks of them) freeze dried tubifex all the time and have had no issues with any sickness or parasites related to the worms.

Source(s): 26 years of keeping and spawning many different species of tropical fish. 23 tanks up and running at present. I have worked in both the retail and wholesale tropical fish business.
