Problem with radio-cd player in Nissan Altima '94. It doesn't work..doesn't turn on..any suggestions pls.?

I guess some wiring must be loose or what do u think other problem might be? Before I take it to a mechanic, I want to know what the problem is...any insight from ppl. well-versed in dealing with this kinda problem would sure be appreciated. Also...how do I take the whole system out of the dash-board to look @ it more carefully and probably with help from YA ppl. here who knows I might be able to fix it myself. Look forward to ur response. TIA!

    Before you pull the dashboard apart, is the fuse okay? It could save you a long day

    Try the fuses first. Consult you manual for their location, but most likely they are to the left of your steering wheel on your dash (around the height of where your door handle is). The manual or fuse box cover will tell you which fuse is for the radio. Pull it out and see if the wires are still joined on the fuse (you might want to switch it with another fuse just to make sure). If that doesn't work, pull the radio out and make sure all the wires are connected. If so...consult mechanic.

    hear to John Paul above --- he's conscious of his stuff! If it quite is not dist seal....looks like a million) a gas pump, 2) oil pump (which shuts off the gas to maintain an engine with out rigidity, or 3) the timing chain broke. At that age it quite is in all risk a gas pump. verify the fuse and breakers on the pump first. notwithstanding if it quite is blown, you may renowned why. Then hit upon a sturdy Nissan mechanic who can attempt gas rigidity formerly you basically slap one on it. If gas pump is sturdy, then i'm going to guess it quite is oil pump broke and the gadget worked nicely by reducing the gas formerly the engine starved. by way of fact the KA25 engine has a chain, it would not generally flow. in case you have a socket large adequate to get it around the crankshaft pulley ( i've got self belief its at the back of your perfect front wheel and is 27mm or so and a 2' breaker bar -- disconnect unfavorable on battery, put in independent and turn engine by hand. you may sense popular compression and launch modifications, yet no combating or metallic noises.     I agree with check the fuse. To take out the stereo in most cars is just a matter of a phillips head screwdriver and seeing what screws are holding either the stereo or console together. If you get the stereo out also check the fuse on the red wire (if it has one). Replacing a stereo isn't too hard if you can get it out and have the right stereo to fit and wire connections.

    Check the fuses. In my maxima they are under the dash on the left side. You could just have a blown fuse.

    check the fuse in the car as well as the ones under the hood

    check the red, yellow and black wires in the radio wiring harness to see if they are still connected.

    take it to a shop or get a new sound/radio system.
