There is no such thing as a "miscarriage prevention shot." These people are either uneducated or making a very stupid joke.

Even with the best health care, there is not much you can do to that is guaranteed to prevent a miscarriage. It will help to avoid alchol, caffeine (even in soda and chocolate), tobacco (even second hand), and all illegal drugs. There are other things that can contribute to miscarriages, such as the wrong medicines or herbal supplements. Good pre-natal care is a plus; however, there should be prenatal programs even for people on state health care.

However, there is no simple "shot" to prevent miscarriage.

I think that you need to ask your doctor about this to see if it is something that you could have had.

But the way I understand it is that a miscarraige is caused by the developing foetus having something so wrong that it wouldn't have stood a chance with life, it's nature's way of ensuring only those who can live get the chance.

There's no such thing. First trimester miscarriages are almost never preventable.
