I loan my car to a friend and she had a minor fender bender.?

Problem is she didn't have her license on her and got nervous and kept going. Later I received 3 tickets, one for impoper lane crossing, no insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident. I don't want to incriminate her because she is facing some serious personal problems...What do I do?

You need to defend yourself on the criminal charges. Tell the powers that be that you were not driving the car, she was. With regard to the insurance claim, you will probably get hit with that. Chances are if she does not have a license, she also does not carry insurance. This would be a negligent entrustment claim against you for giving your car to an unlicensed driver. Your rates will go up. Don't also incur a criminal record. She will just have to deal with it. You could possibly go to jail for leaving the scene. Let her explain why she did this.

  • You should seek the advise of a lawyer in your area. Unfortunately you could face more serious problems if you don't turn her in; not just with the law, but with years of impossibly high insurance rates.

You have two choices, you either turn her in, or you take the rap. I would turn her in, if she was any kind of friend she would not have put you in this pinch, she would have stood up and taken the blame instead of trying to make you feel bad about it. It is her fault she is in the spot she is in not yours. She is using you, and you do not need a friend like that!

Honey all that stuff is going to fall back on you! Why would you let someone use your car who doesn't have a license?? That's Crazy...you should have accompanied her! Now you have have to face the blame!

You dont want to confront her? She wrecked your car and is ditching you for tickets? Is she really your friend? Honestly with friends like that who needs enemies?

Ask her to pay. Tell her it needs to be paid. Tell her you cant. Tell her its her responsibility. If all else fails take her to small claims court.

    Its business not personal.

If you don't want to make her take the responsibility, then you will have to pay and your insurance will go up. Is it worth the money to you...or do you make her be an adult and take responsibility?
