.::Why won't my Windows XP computer start sucessfully, even in safe mode? PLESE ANSWER!::.?

When I turn on my computer, It always says "Windows could not start sucessfully due an error" and it will give you 5 options.

-Start using Safemode

-Safe mode w/ command prompt

-Safe mode w/ networking

-Last good known configuration

-Start Windows normally

I have tried all of these options and none of them work, My computer just shuts down. Is is a virus? If so, how can i get rid of it? And, Do I have to reformat?

(If your wondering, I'm using my friends computer)

it sounds as something nasty is lurking in your system and yes it does sound like you have a virus is installed in your computer.this may cure the problem.first off when windows loads up normally if there is avirus it may disable your computer so you will not be able to proceed any futher. To stop the virus running when windows loads hit F8 on your keyboard when you first power on this should take you automatically into safemode when in safemode the virus cannot run so if you have an antivirus program installed run this utility to find out what is lurking in your system you may be able to delete the virus or quarantine it for removal for later, also run an antispware program if you have one and do the same as above, depending on some antivirus programs and antispyware programs it is not always possible to delete the infection when running in safe mode but it is certainly possible to quarantine them so they cannot run,if you are happy that the infection or infections have been isolated, just to make sure run your antivirus program and antispyware progams again and if you are happy click start on your computer then goto turn off computer click this to shut windows down.Wait until windows turns itself completely off, then power on your computer if all is well you should be able to reboot back into normal mode when in normal mode if you haven't been able able to delete the infection in safemode and you have quarantined the infection instead, check your antivirus program and antispyware and look in the quarantined section of these programs, you should then be able to delete the virus or viruses forever,or depending on the virus you may have to download a special tool for removal.if all else fails when in safemode you can also restore your computer back to a time before the virus got onto your system,by using system restore this will not delete any of your files but it will also not reinstall the virus.Only format your hard drive as a last resort because everthing and i mean everthing will be erased and you will have to start from scratch unless you have made back up files, but you will have to reinstall windows again.I hope this helps

You probably don't have to format, but you might have to choose the repair option
