Is chaulk used by police to outline crime scenes?
I have heard that chaulk use is a myth because it contaminates a crime scene... is this true?

No longer
We used to use chalk to mark the position of a body for forensic purposes before hi-tech photography came on the scene. It seemed that people who got killed on the sidewalk at night didn't photograph too well in the old days. Even with Flash bulbs it was difficult to see much detail, too.
Chalk isn't even used in the movies either.

differnet forensic investigators use many different things, now it is mostly photos and evidence collection of sweeping the crime scenes, so each area and each department with a different method but the actual evidence collection pretty much the same, usually it is a non toxic tape.....(I think)

I always thought they just took alot of pictures and used blocks with numbers on them to mark where evidence was. They try to keep the evidence and body (if it was a murder) there for as long as possible.
