'This Answer Is Below Your Threshhold' - What do you think about this feature?

I share your concerns, esp since the abusers seem to be using thumbs down more often then the regular users.

Additionally, in the forum (which has much less participation), it requires 3 low ratings before a post is hidden.

I really think they need to reinstate some sort of quotas on rating, esp on thumbs down. These should be reserved for incorrect answers and/or truly offensive posts.

I think one of the reasons they are doing this is try to help curb the abuse on this site. But, personally, I think it would be better to set a lower threshold (maybe -4) and give every user the option to set their default. It seems like a pain to have to reset it for each question.

Edit: I just realized that you can reset...AND, it stays at that new setting...so you don't have to reset it each time. That makes it a lot better.

You can change your threshold. There is a dropdown list on top of the first answer that you can use to set your settings. Answers will remember your choice.

Also, remember that this is the net rating and not just the number of thumbs down. So if something has 3 thumbs down, but 2 thumbs up, it will be at -1 and will stay visible.

I believe you can change what your "threshold" is .... to allow you to see all answers .....

Personally, if an answer has more than two thumbs down, I probably dont want to see it anyway, and if I choose to, I can either change my preferences or click on it.
