3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoWhere can I find vintage reproduction children's books?
Where can I find reproduction children's books that have old-fashioned (like 1920-1960's's) illustrations? I am NOT looking for Beatrix Potter or Dick and Jane books.
1 AnswerBooks & Authors1 decade agoLooking for aquatic snails?
I need help finding some good aquatic snails.
I'm done with golden apple/blackmystery snails. I've bought a bunch of these. They have their own aquarium. I was trying to raise them in part to provide live food for a green spotted puffer. But it's not working. The snails keep dying for no reason that I can determine. The eggs often fall off into the water, or if the egg sac does stay where it's been laid the snails never hatch or hatch very few.
I used to have red ramshorn snails years ago and they were great. Unfortunately the fish suddenly discovered they tasted great and managed to wipe them out.
What would be a good species of snail for me and where could I order them from?
The pet stores in my area are not big on offering snails.

Image of Edessa
King Abgarus of Edessa wrote to Jesus, asking him to come cure him of an illness. It was first recorded in the early 4th century by Eusebius of Caesarea (E.H. 1.13.5 and .22), who said that he had transcribed and translated the actual letter in the Syriac chancery documents of the king of Edessa. Instead, the apostle Thaddaeus is said to have come to Edessa, bearing a cloth featuring Jesus' facial features, by the virtues of which the king was miraculously healed.
The Sudarium of Oviedo
Archbishop Pelayo Meléndez, "the chronicler", came up with "relics from the Holy City of Jerusalem", including a blood stained rag said to be the face cloth of one dead Jesus referred to in John 20.7
Veil of Veronica
The faithful believe that Veronica from Jerusalem encountered Jesus along the Via Dolorosa on the way to Calvary. When she paused to wipe the sweat off his face with her veil, his image was imprinted on the cloth.

I commented on how these spiders appear in late summer and spin webs in open places where they hadn't been earlier in the year. Spiders that spin webs every night but the webs are gone in the daylight. This guy told me that the spiders eat the webs. I don't believe it.
11 AnswersZoology1 decade agoWhat is your reaction? You buy a brand-new book of children's classical fiction, and...?
You pick up a newly published edition of a classic of children's literature out of a selection: Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Three Musketeers, Heidi, Pinocchio, Bambi. As you turn the pages, you find the original dialogue has been changed and references to God and Jesus has been added throughout the book.
