Getting farming soil out of a white cotton skirt....help!?
We recently moved onto a farm and my dogs were in a newly plowed field. Then my dog jumped up on my daughters white cotton skirt and I can't get the stain out. I've bleached it for 2 days. Then I tried OxyClean. It got lighter with the bleach, but is still visible. What will work?

you need to soak it in bleach water (use more than you normally would) for a few hours then wash it normal with a little bit of "Blueing" to brighten the white. this is how manufactures make their cotton appear white. Bleach by itself will only make white cotton appear yellow. also, the iron out will help as most dirt contains iron.

Did you try the bleach pen? You don't mention what detergent you used, I believe Tide powder is best on this type of stain. If you don't have any and don't want to invest in a bunch go to a laundry mat and buy a one use box. As a last ditch effort I would try Iron Out, it is for iron stains so it is strong and it works different than bleach. If that doesn't work, try some pretty patches to cover it up or maybe dye it another color, if the dye doesn't take evenly try tye/dye. Hope that helps.

There is a stain remover called "Zout" try spraying it on the stains and let sit for about 5 minutes. I also soak my tough stained whites in Oxyclean overnight in the washer. It works wonders than to just wash it immediately after adding to washer.

Try:
A higher concentration of bleach solution to soak.
A laundry pretreatment spray (like Spray-N-Wash or Shout!).
Adding 20 Mule Team Borax (found in the detergent/non-chlorine bleach section of most stores).
Adding some baking soda in with the detergent.
Good luck!

in a bucket or you stationary tub, put a cup of cascade and a cup of tide with bleach and hot water. stir together, and add your shirts. sometimes if they are really stinky (sorry, I couldnt think of a pc way to put it) I add a half-cup of borax . Soak overnight then wash as usual. Sometimes in the rinse water, if you are not using ffabric softner, add a cup of white vinegar.

One of my first ? is, have u put it in the dryer yet? If u have, then u r sunk. If not, then try using Shout Color Catcher sheets, they REALLY work well for people who live in the country, i had to use them because of the well water that we had, the water was making all my white shirts look yellow. I swear by them now, they REALLY DO WORK.

I use Spray & Wash first, then wash with bleach. My kids are always in the mud, so I have a ton of mud-removing experience.

You have got to get this stuff, dreft pre treater.
It's the dreft used for baby clothes. The pre treater works on everything, and it won't wear on your clothes like bleach.
