how do i get clothes from coming out of the dryer and having static and shocking me?!?

ALMOST EVERYTIME I GET THE CLOTHES OUT OF THE DRYER MY CLOTHES COME OUT WITH STATIC AND I GET SHOCK FOR THE NEXT HOUR. I ALSO THINK THAT IS THE REASON A WILL GET RANDOM SHOCK THRU OUT THE WEEK WHEN I WEAR CLOTHES I HAVE WASHED. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO PREVENT THIS?

Update:

I USE BOTH DRYER SHEETS AND FABRIC SOFTNER

I used to have that happen to me all the time. I started using a bit more liquid softener in the washer and then I used TWO sheets in the dryer. Every once in a great while I would get shocked, but it was drastically reduced. Sticking with the name brands is another good tool. The generic types don't have the same content of anti-static components.

Add a fabric softener sheet in the dryer...it prevents the static.

Maybe it's the type of fabric softener and dryer sheets you are using. Try the Soft Fabric Dryer Sheets from the Get Clean line of home products, and/or their Soft Fabric Concentrate. They're all natural, fragrance free, and totaly biodegradable. http://www.shaklee.net/wealth-via-health/getclean/...

I use fabric softener and 2-3 dryer sheets with each load of laundry and it helps but still get an occasional poke from something

Try a dryer sheet or put fabric softener in your rinse cycle.
