Should I move from Las Vegas to Orange County California?
I will finish nursing school in 3 years. I really like the weather of Southern California and I found a condo in Seal Beach that I can afford. For the best financial situation should I move to Orange County California or stay in Vegas? I'm mostly concerned about wages & the cost of living.

I just left Fountain Valley, CA a few years ago. The weather is nice, but it's almost always the same; you get used to it after a while and it doesn't seem like a big deal.
House prices are sky-high; it will be hard to own a house. Vegas is still growing, so if you get a house now it should appreciate while it's hard to believe So Cal can inflate much more in the next few years.
Property tax is generally 1% assessed price, sales tax is 7.25% and income tax is progressive and can vary quite a bit based on you. But Seal Beach is beautiful, so you might take the chance and try it! Ruby's on the Pier is a great place to eat.
Lots of traffic in southern cal as well. Take a week off and go visit, you'll get a good picture of it that way.

OC Ca SUCKS!!!!!!! I lived in southern Ca for 31yrs. The people are very rude!!! People can't drive!!! Well people can't drive here in Vegas, either!! I live here in Vegas. The work is MUCH better here!!!! Ca has BAD SMOG!!!! When I was going to school there was days that you couldn't go outside because it was sooooo BAD!!!!!! TRAFFIC!!!!! If you think Vegas has bad traffic you have NO idea!!!! The traffic is sooo bad that a 45 mile drive has taken me 31/2 hours to get home!!! No joke!!! You should look into some place else!!!! Housing is VERY expensive!!!!! The cose of living out there is way more than here!!!! Well good luck!!!

If you want decent wages and coastal living, you need to hike over to Gulf Shores, Alabama. There is tons of nursing work just next door in Mobile and in Pensacola. The property taxes in Alabama are only 2%. If you have a house in Cali, sell it and move, you're money will take you a LONG way in Alabama (or Florida panhandle for that matter). Also, they are in desperate need of RN's in that area and they make very good salaries in light of the VERY low cost of living here. Not to mention, the white sand in the south is beautiful. If you choose Florida, there are no personal state taxes and the property taxes are still less than half of California's.

In Orange County is considered most expensive to live . The rent is higher . However , nursing jobs are excellent . Orange County hospitals, agencies, and private home pays more and better hours. You have to determine your criteria of your COLA (cost-of-living adjustment), perhaps to live on your budget:finding a suitable roommate , don't eat too much outside.
Also, I live in Orange County.

Las Vegas is a racket ... Not a great place to raise a family. I lived there for about 1.5 yrs .... On the other hand, OC is expensive .. Depends on what you want.

for the cost of living, it would be better to live in orange county, but casinos are illegal in many parts of california, so think about it
