Idiots guide to Buddhism ?

Can anyone help me with pointers, etc. to help appreciate Buddhism, as a total novice ?

Lapsed Christian, I looked at Deism, Humanism & Pantheism. But I'm trying to find more personal/inner strength & I want my life back.

I'm not great at taking instructions - I never was in highschool, anyway. I prefer to study alone & learn my own wisdom, rather than have someone else preach their wisdom to me.

    go buy a book..budhism is one of the greatest and the most realistic religion there is..good choice
