Bon Jovi's Tommy and Gina?

Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" is about a young couple Tommy and Gina. Then in "It's My Life," he refrences them "for Tommy and Gina who never backed down." Does anyone know if they are just representations of young working class or if they are real people?

I watched an interview with JBJ. He was asked the same question. He said it was reference to any one who "gives it their all" and doesn't let anyone stop them from living their dreams.

they are probably representations of the working class, however hats off to Bon Jovi for referencing them. Great artists

They are based on a real life situation experienced by Desmond Child in the 70s with his then-gf Maria Vidal, except he was a cabbie, not a dock worker.
