Is it ethical or moral for the GOP to attack MJ. Fox, Cindy Sheehan and those who suffer because of the actions of the GOP?

Yes, because those Liberal dirt bags are using their diseases and their son's death to promote their own political agenda, to gain fame, and to promote themselves into the spotlight

First, I love MJ Fox! I am saddened that this horrible disease has ravaged him so. I think he is courageous and desperate for a cure. As anyone would be. The difference here is that he admits he does not take his meds (yes, his prerogative) to emphasize the effects of the disease and to create sympathy. Good strategy. However, he did not tell the full truth in his ad. Had he stated that the other candidate did not oppose ALL stem cell research, but only objected to EMBRYONIC stem cell research, the GOP would've had NO cause to call him on it. Since MJ Fox was misleading voters in order to get them to vote for a candidate who supports EMBRYONIC stem cell research--which has NOT been as promising as you've been lead to believe, they have every right to question his ethics. Cindy Sheehan on the other hand is a nutcase-who was estranged from her son. Her son was a patriot who willingly gave his life by volunteering to serve. He died a hero and that nut-job is doing her son's memory a disservice by using his death for profit and fame.

I'd say with Michael J Fox, no. I'd say with Cindy Sheehan, she is fair game.
Even though Michael J Fox is misrepresenting the whole embryonic stem cell research issue I don't believe that is an excuse to attack him for allowing the full effects of his disease to be viewed. If for no other reason than seeing the effects that Parkinsons disease has on a persons body, it is an education and brings the disease to the attention of the public. That is a good thing. The fact *is* that there is no scientific proof that embryonic stem cells will ever play a role in finding a cure for Parkinsons Disease or any other disease for that matter. I do have a problem though that Michael is not promoting adult stem cell therapy though. Adult stem cell therapy is known to improve certain conditions that people have.
Cindy Sheehan. I am sorry that her son died in Iraq. I can't even say that Cindy lost a son though. I can say that her son lost his mother long before his death. She bandoned him years before his death. As a mother I have a problem that she is using her sons death as a political weapon. We don't know what her sons stance on the war was for sure. His father gives a different story than Cindy does. We do know that he went to Iraq to defend his country. We do know that he did not have a good relationship with his mother, there was little to no communication between the two for YEARS prior to his death. We do know that Cindy Sheehan is thoroughly enjoying the notoriety that promoting the death of her son has given her. I personnally believe she should be ashamed for what she is doing in respect to the memory of her son.
I wish nothing but the best for Michael J Fox.
To blame the GOP as you are attempting to is irresponsible. The GOP did not make MJF sick and they certainly did not intentionally cause the death of Cindy Sheehans son.

Is it ethical for Fox and Sheehan to waggle their illnesses and bleat about their plight without taking shots in the name of clarification?
We respect people who explain how they did their best to overcome their tragedies and handicaps. We can then ask: "How hard did you work to beat your challenge? Did you fall short? Okay, how could we help you - let's work together - what do you need to succeed? Let's find the resources."
Why would anyone want cash thrown their way out of pity? Well . . . apparently some have no shame.
The GOP does not hinder stem cell research. This administration poured more money into researching stem cells than any other.
Sheehan's son chose to protect us. He was protecting her, too. He's the Hero.

The GOP as an organization has not attacked Fox, Sheehan, or "those who suffer" (your words, and unsubstantiated garbage).
Sorry for Sheehan's loss, but the latest photo I see of Sheehan is her grinning with and evidently supporting communist HUGO CHAVEZ of Venezuela, who has stated his intent to bring America to its knees. Let her move to Venezuela.
Great answer from "Republican Mom". George Clooney lowered himself to the level of Michael Moore when they both attacked Charlton Hesston, an avid sportsman, because he accepted the presidency of the National Rifle Association. Hesston was one of Americas greatestest actors in classic films like "Ben Hur" and in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" and "Hamlet". Hesston, who will die from Alzheimer's disease, probably choking of aspiration pneumonia, is the kind of conservative who "crossed the aisle" to march with Martin Luther King when no one else had the guts to do so. Hesston is a great American patriot.

I think it's fair for the GOP to take the views of Fox and Sheehan seriously and point out areas of disagreement. Anyone who speaks up on a certain viewpoint should be open to people criticizing them.
That said, it is disgusting to see all the smears and personal attacks that have been launched at those two by certain conservatives. Personal attacks are completely unethical.

Why are the political views of ANYONE off limits just because someone is suffering from a disease or lost a son? Republicans are not attacking their suffering - they are attacking their political views, their lies, their exploitation of their disease or loss for political gain, and then their cowardice hiding behind their own suffering so they are not called on the carpet for their political views.
George Clooney was not so empathetic to Charlton Heston's affliction with Altheimers. In fact he directly made fun of Heston's suffering, saying he deserved it! I have not heard a single Republican state that MJF or Sheehan deserved their suffering - not one!

Nice loaded question! You could be a pollster for the Dems.
Ignoring your assumption that the GOP is the cause of their suffering, YES.
Anyone who enters into political debate is subject to having their opinions and methods questioned.
If you want to use an infirmity pass to help fund a non-political cause, you should expect empathy. But if you start stumping for a political party or cause, you're a player.

Sorry, but having suffered does not grant you any special priveleges.
By the way, I thought Fox was suffering from Parkinson's disease, not because of the "actions of the GOP". If the GOP had the cures and selectively administered them, then Reagen wouldn't have had his Alzheimer's.

Yes, it was totally ethical and proper especially since these idiots chose to step into the "political boxing ring." I enjoy watching them get knocked out, trounced on, and set straight. Maybe they'll think twice before they open their big fat mouths!
No one has the market cornered on sad stories, tragedy, personal loss, etc. Get over it already!

Fox and Sheehan are not being attacked. Disagreeing with someones political views is supposed to be healthy in our country, isn't it? These two have chosen to enter the political arena and therefore are open to political debate.
