Male Betta making sound?

it sounds like a bunch of clicks. At first i though he was tapping the bowl's wall but I just saw him do it. He's making like he's chewing something. This is the first time i've seen/heard of this. Is this common?

Update:

I think it's a mating call too. He has been building a bubble nest. I can't find any facts on this on the web though.

I'll be getting females in few days... He should be happy.

He could be talking to attract a mate or making warning noises.

I didn't know what the sound was at first till I plunked a chair down in front of his tank, sat there for 30 minutes, and saw him make the clicking noise. It looks like he's flexing his gillplates, then suddenly 'snaps' or 'clicks' it shut quickly. He isn't yawning though, cuz he doesn't open his mouth to do it. Maybe he's just stretching.

He'll be fine. I doubt it has to do with mating, becuz bettas kill first, then ask questions. ;)

I've seen Betas do lots of amazing things. I wouldnt worry - unless he starts telling you how to vote. If there's one thing I cant stand is a fish giving out bad advice.
