I'm not familiar with US politics nor do I like politics in general, but US politics decide the world's fate (unfortunately). I was curious to know what midterm congressional elections are and what their results mean.

Mid-term refers ti the middle of the sitting Presidents term, when some Senators and Congressmen are elected.

Congressmen in the House of Representatives serve 2 year terms and Senators serve 6 year terms. He have elections every 2 years. When an election occurs in which the President's office is not being vacated, it is called an off year election.
