Are the Stampeders that scared of the Saskatchewan Roughriders?

Calgary has informed the Roughriders that they will not let the Rider's mascot, "Gainer the Gopher" into their stadium for the Western Conference Semi Final because they (Calgary) feel they will lose home field advantage if Gainer is at the game. Calgary feels they earned home field advantage and want to insure that they keep it!! Are we a little scared that your football team isn't that good Calgary.

Update: The Stamps front office says Gainer isn't banned from McMahon, only from the field. They said they'll even buy him a ticket; he'll just have to watch the game from the stands like everyone else.

Bottom Line: the Stampeders earned home field advantage, so they have they right to ban Gainer or enforce any other rule that doesn't pertain to the actual game. Would Saskatchewan like it if the Stamp's horse was allowed into Mosaic stadium? I doubt it.

As a born and raised Calgarian and lifelong Stamps fan now living in Regina (probably the only person on earth who moved east instead of west) I'm cheering for the Stamps this Sunday. If the Riders lose, it won't be because Gainer wasn't allowed on the field. My one beef with Rider fans here in Saskatchewan (other than their constant bandwagon jumping) is that they have a persecution complex. So, the Gopher's not allowed on the field, big deal. If the boys in Green play like they can, it could be an interesting match-up.

I love playoffs, when every little thing figures into the game.

Seeming most of Saskatchewan has migrated to Alberta over the last 10 years, a Stamps home game against the Riders already feels like road game with the amount of Green in McMahon Stadium. But as a Rider player said "I wouldn't have him in my house eiither. The guy doesn't wear any pants."

It was just pre-game rhetoric, something to jazz up a few people. Unfortunately for Calgary,it has backfired a little on them, and created more anger than controversy. It was meant to be a little kick in the Saskatchewan players nuts, but it has angered a few fans of both teams. In the end, it will have little effect on the game.

Your right, shouldnt really matter,,,,,Roughriders will blow it anyway, so I don't know why Calgary should care other than being embarrassed on National TV with all the Rider fans at the game...... Calgary 37 Regina 17

If they were scared of Gainer, they'd cover the field with strychnine. This is just some way to draw attention to the game

Much like the Calgary Flames, they need all the luck they can get because their talent has gone on holidays!

Beware the Gopher...of course, as Bill Murray once said, "Ya gotta think like a gopher."

They could let the whole province into the Cowtown stadium, the Riders will still choke.

Stamps will take it with ease...

    No.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are not a serious professional sports franchise. They are a joke.

    I still can't believe they're worried about a %*^%ing mascot...
