Are the ESPN and Baseball Tonight experts Stealing their paychecks or earning their money? Ravech got it right

The St. Louis Cardinals are 2006 World Series Champs. They are usually so wrong when making their predictions. They hardley ever pick the right team to win. Going into the Playoffs, almost Every guy on there picked the the Yankees to win the W.S., The mets and Yanks to play for the W.S. and the Cardinals to miss the playoffs in the last week by loosing to houston in the division. Then they picked the Cardinals to lose to San Diego in the first round, then lose to the mets in the NLCS and get spanked by the Tigers in the W.S. But what happened is the Cardinals out pitched every team in the Playoffs, played better defense than eayone, and got timely hitting when they needed it. At the beginning of the year, many people picked the Cardinals to be good, but by the end of the year, no one gave them a chance. The experts are usually wrong, and with predictions as bad as theirs, they should only be qualified to be weathermen. That is the only profession that can be wrong as much as them

With the exception of Peter Gammons, the gang at BT has been stealing their checks for years. They're a bunch of loudmouths who have no idea what they're talking about most of the time, and who would rather spout nonsense than to dare check the facts before talking.

As for predictions, remember that John Kruk also predicted Randy Johnson to win 30 games in a season when he came to the Yankees, so you can't put much stock in anything they say. Steve Phillips is a moron, Kruk is a once-good player who really has no grasp of analysis, and the rest of those guys are quite poor.

I won't fault them too much for picking the Yankees, but I'm guessing that they didn't spend much time looking at the other teams. Those clowns are no smarter than many of the people I find posting on this site, and they only influence those who are too dumb to think for themselves.

They showed up on time, show clips and make comments on the game so yes they are earining their paychecks, and you can't expect more than that. No one can accurately predict what happen from one series to another. And Stats and Regular season don't mean squat when it comes down to the playoffs. And you have to admit the Cardinals looked horrible the last few weeks of the season. They couldn't buy a win, and it wasn't until the last day that they finally clinched the Central Division after looking like they were a lock for most of the season.

Not to say I agree or listen to any "Expert" on who is going win. I just root for my club as a fan. I don't care if they are the underdog, or the expert think they are going to lose, They just call it the way they see it,and we as fan get blinded for our love of our team no matter how badly they play or how glaring our weakness is. And when we do win when we were the supposed underdog the better the victory taste. Plus no one says anything about the stupid prediction that we or any of our friends make.

P.S. I did predict in my school newspaper that The Rams was going to win the Super Bowl in 1999 and everyone laughed (granted they were 4-12 the season before) but who got the last laugh now. I'm still waiting for ESPN to call.

Very well put Craig S. I am also glad the asker noticed this trend with the bumbling crew of BT.

well, as the saying goes, that's why the games are played. If you can sit at desk and say 100% who wins, why play the game?
