  • Thoughts on the one-game wildcard playoffs?

I think it's ridiculous to decide a playoff spot on a single game after a 162-game season, just curious what others think.

  • Does Bell ExpressVu not carry TNT?

I assumed we had this channel, but I can't seem to find it on my TV or in their latest channel lineup. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but could someone confirm either way?

  • New dryer feels hot on top?

Got a new dryer, it's level and properly vented. However, the top still feels hotter than I believe it should. Any ideas? Clothes do seem to be drying properly.

  • Remote won't work, can't get into my car?

My Town and Country doors are locked, and the remote will not work. I don't have a normal key, so how do I get in? The car worked fine yesterday, but then wouldn't start and now it won't even unlock.

    Any ideas?

  • Rod Woodson or Deion Sanders?

Who was the better defensive back, both in their prime and/or for career accomplishments?

I realize Woodson moved to safety, but he was a DB and cover guy for a long time. Both were great, but who would you choose as the better player?

  • Has Felix Hernandez winning the Cy Young restored your faith in humanity?

I'm stretching it a little, but has it at least restored your faith in the fact that baseball writers are smart enough to see beyond wins and losses? There's no way this outcome would have occurred 20, or even 10 years ago.

And how many people still believe he should not have won because of the W-L record?

  • What's the ruling on this play?

A kickoff hits a player on the receiving team at his three-yard line, then proceeds to roll out of the end zone.

Touchback or safety? And is there a rule number for it?

  • Was Collie a defenseless receiver?

Just looking for your thoughts on the hit that put him out of the Colts-Eagles game. Was he defenseless, or was he a receiver trying to bring in the ball and run with it? And is this symptomatic of officiating problems/rules in the NFL?

  • Can Felix Hernandez win the Cy Young with a .500 record?

Can, and should, King Felix win the Cy Young if he leads the league in ERA and strikeouts? He's been the best pitcher in the league by several measures, but has an 11-11 record. Or do you go with someone like C.C. and his 19 wins, despite giving up more than half a run per game more than Felix?

Will wins matter, and should they? Or is there a chance for somone like Bucholz to sneak in and win?

  • Is "600" how Hoffman will be remembered?

It's a nice number, but it's unlikely to stand as the record for long and I wonder how long people will give it consideration once Rivera moves past him. Hoffman is a guy with the second-best ERA of any active pitcher, and is seventh all-time in H/9, K/BB and WHIP.

I just wonder if anyone is going to realize how dominant he was for a long time, or if that will be forgotten. Kind of like how too many people don't realize how great Hank Aaron was, well beyond the home run record. What do you think?

  • Do the Reds have the talent to win the NL Central?

Pretty straightforward question - are they a first-half wonder, or can they stick it out for the long haul and challenge the Cardinals for the division title? Why or why not?

  • Are there any non-Yankee related questions in this section?

Hey folks - haven't been around for a while, but on browsing the board almost every question seems to be about the Yankees, both for and against. Is this just due to the series with the Mets, or is this the general trend?

  • Did the Oilers drop the ball with Rob Schremp?

He was a junior star, but could never crack the Oilers' lineup. Now he's putting up decent numbers on a pretty good Isles' team, while the Oilers are looking at blowing up their team to build for the future?

Was Schremp really not good enough, or is this another example of the ineptitude of the Oilers' brass?

  • Most surprising result of this year's Hall of Fame voting?

While Alomar's falling short was surprising, I think what shocked me more was that Barry Larkin received recognition on barely 50% of the ballots. I think he's a deserving HOFer, although that's of course up for debate.

What did you find most surprising? The voting results can be found here:

  • Does the matchup determine whether you'll watch the Super Bowl?

I've seen a lot of questions talking about Super Bowl matchups people would like to see, or wouldn't be interested in. If you're a football fan, though, does it really matter who makes it there? If your allegiance is only with one team and you'll actually skip the Super Bowl because that team doesn't make it, are you really a football fan?

Just seems weird to me that anyone would miss the game because they don't like the matchup.

  • How much upside does Kyle Okposo have?

He seems to get lost in the shadow of other Islanders, but has put up decent numbers in his second full season. I'm just curious where his future lies - is he a top line guy, or top six? Just wondering how good you think he'll be.

  • Do the Americans have a chance at Olympic hockey gold?

I've been looking at their roster, trying to figure out what I think of their team. Great goaltending with Ryan Miller, which always gives a team a chance, but what about the rest? I'm curious what others think of their chances in Vancouver against strong teams (on paper) like Russia and Canada.

  • Will any of the favoured home teams lose in the wildcard round?

All four home teams are favoured, although only by about 3-4 points.

Do you see any upsets? Green Bay and the Jets both spanked their opponents last week, but will that have any carryover? What about the other games.

    Looking for your thoughts.

  • How does the KHL compare to the NHL and/or minor pro hockey?

We obviously get no coverage of it here, and I'm wondering how good some of the Russian Olympians are - guys like Konstantin Korneyev, Danis Zaripov and Sergei Zinoviev. We're obviously familiar with players like Fedorove, Radulov and Morozov, but some of these other KHLers on the roster aren't familiar.

So, how does the league compare to North America? Would it fall somewhere between the NHL and AHL? And how does it compare to other Euro leagues, like the Swedish Elite league?

  • No Flames d-men on Team Canada?

Considering Phaneuf and Bouwmeester seemed close to locks at one time, what do you think? I think it's a good, strong statement that reputation doesn't matter as much as performance but I was still surprised, especially with Phaneuf.

Did they make the right choices on the blueline? It's probably the one area where we have the greatest advantage over other teams.
