I live in Philadelphia, I would like to know if anyone has visited and likes the city. I find philly dirty.?

I would like to know if anyone would consider intentionally moving to the city of "Brotherly Love".

I grew up in Allentown, PA and frankly I used to think of Philly as "Phila-hood". I never used to want to go through it, let alone be in it. It was a place where you just didn't want to be.

Since getting out of eastern PA 16 years ago, I have come to appreciate it more. Recently, my wife went to conferences two years in a row in Philly, and we stayed across from the Kimball Center.

While tagging along, I got to wander center city. Rittenhouse Square is wonderful (especially having wine & cheese on the eastern side, sorry I don't remember the name of the restaraunt w/ the sidewalk seating). Independence Hall, Washington Square, & its surroundings are sublime if you stop to reflect on what occurred in the exact spot you sit in the late 1700's. Reading Station is a little world of its own, and a great, eclectic place to grab a bite. Having a friend stand in line at Geno's while you stand in line at Pat's and then doing a taste test while the neighborhood lives around you is a treat.

All throughout the center city area, I walked (day & night) and never felt unsafe or harrassed. Dining (from a street vendor to McCormick & Schmidt (sp?) is superb and diverse.

Not too long ago, I'd avoid Philadelphia like the plague.

Now, if I could afford it, I think center city Philly is one of my top city dwellings of choice!

Philadelphia is over-rated. I don't think the city the dirty but the smell is unbearable. I also think there are probably more homeless people than any other major city. (They are very aggressive). It is difficult to get a job here unless you are aligned with the political circle. Also, the city is populated with covert racists.

I've been there but didn't get to see much of the sights. I did go to the zoo and Longwood Gardens. My husband is from Philadelpia, and he says the city is a dangerous place.

It depends on the area you are in - some people won't even say hello or nod a head in the uppity areas. Why anyone would move to cold weather is beyond me also!

I WENT THERE IN JULY TO FIND THE REAL WORLD HOUSE. ONCE I'D FOUND IT, I DROVE ALL AROUND AND FOUND IT DROLL AND LIFELESS WITH LITTLE PERSONALITY.
