Easy. Just convince them you'll pay for it.

You asked them already (and they said no?) ..I take it? It's either money or age. IF you get a job (if you're over l6) I don't think they'd squawk. (I don't have one, so I guess I don't know.. can a minor even get one? maybe not.... hmm ) You may as well give it up in that case, man.. (it's hopeless..) If you are crowdin' l8, I'd say give it a shot. There are a lotta kids w/out them.. I know.. I know.. I was a kid (a hundred and fifty years ago) It might seem like life and deathsville now, the cell phone issue.. but, think about it (pretend you are them!) They must have a point. (If you've got a computer, they can't be too bad off, right?) I know the fact you sign a year(?) contract scares me. (Did I say I don't have one? Don't want one either. hell, I don't have anybody to talk to..I've got no friends!! lmao) don't want 'em either.. (they will just want to rip me off with their cell phones!) You sound a bit stubborn I might add.. I mean, you could have asked the question above, phrase it differently...for example.. "I am old enough for a cell phone, responsible, work.. so HOW can I convince my parents I absolutely need one?" See what I mean? If it's a control issue(?) I've been down that road myself and I'm l00% on your parents' side, kid.. (sorry.!.. can't always get the answer ya want in life, kid.. learn it quick/now.. like in here..) ciao.

Honestly hun, i'm sorry but I work in the cell phone industry and the worst idea in the world is to give a phone to a teenager especially a teenage girl (sorry no offense), simply because the majority of teenagers that get cell phones don't realize (or don't care) that they have a minute barrier before it starts getting really expensive to call, I don't know how many times i've had to deal with parents trying to get out of a $1000, $2000, and once even a $5000 phone bill.

    hi,

oh that is the problem that i had with my parents last spring (i am 15 now) they said that i werent old enough to own a cell phone. first i convinced them to use my sister's former cell phone because it doesnt have any good feature thay accept so.

then they realize that i can have a good cell phone and i really need it. then 2 months later they bought me a new cell phone.

u can also ask them to give u a chance to have a cell phone for some days then u can show them that u will use it in a good way. be careful you should be kind to your parents and respect them more to allow u have a cell phone.

be careful about your bill. it shouldnt be so much.

    be successful...

it depends on how old you are on how to actually answer this question...

but there are so many ways to trick them into getting you one...the real thing here is what are you going to use it for..safety. ( HA HA you say.. maybe) the bill can get HUGE so fast and it can be a big problem for moms and dads...

just to mention one company Verizon..if your friends all have the same provider..you ALL get to talk all day and all night for FREE...so you could get the smallest plan..and use 3,000 minutes talking to your friends, but only pay for say 500 minutes..if they all have Verizon..I believe a lot of other phone services now do the same thing..they call it something like friends and family, or something like that...

so figure out what your going to do with it..and then go see one of those guys in the malls and ask them who much it will cost if you use this amount of minutes to talk to friends..and see exactly what it costs..then think about it...for real..

maybe you can get ALL your friends to change to one provider..one that gives free air time when you talk to friends and family....this would save other parents money too...see you can do it for everyone...

do all YOUR home work before you go talk to your parents..have it written on paper, and show them charts and all of it....but the bottom line is the MONEY...

    good luck

By getting a job and paying for it. If you're old enough for a cell phone your old enough to pay for it.

The only exception I see is if there is no home phone and you have a younger child coming home by him/herself. Otherwise, there is no reason that your parent's should pay for such an expense, it's unnecessary.

get a job, and pay for your own cell phone service. If you want your parents to pay for it you are not old enough to have one yet.

Tell them you're more than happy to have a prepaid one, after all it's mostly for the safety factor to have it. It's not like you'll use it all the time to call people you just saw, are just about to see, or are standing right next to.

Well I just gave my parents examples of emergency situations and why it would be good to have a cell phone.

If you try that, they'll get closer to saying "yes".
