My shower keeps turning off by itself and I have to turn it back on.?

Is there anything I can do without calling a plumber?

This may sound crazy. If the faucet is of the new "washerless faucet" variety like Delta; you may (and this is the weird part) have to replace the washer. This is really a nylon bushing that keeps the handle smooth running. It also keeps water away from the handle mechanism. Should be user replaceable.

If you have the pull up in the goosneck the spring is probably pulled to loose. You may have to replace the unit.

you should have checked the label

they are called stingy or eco taps
