looking to start career in trucking?

thinking about getting into trucking as a company driver which I know will require a lot of time away from home etc. there is a good truck driving school near where i live. my questions are:

1.If you where to start over would you still become a truck driver even if you did not have many other options?

2.Would you recommend this career to a male in his mid 20's with no family and a spotless driving record?

3. Any recomendations for trying to stay out of new york/other cramped cities?

4. Would you recommend flat bed or box w or w/o refer?

5. should i try to find line haul, long haul, dedicated, or regional?

6. big company or little company? any recommendations I am located in south west ohio?

7. other things i should look out for or know?

Thank you in advance and please be as true and thurough with your answers as possible because they will have great weight on my decision.

Update:

I do enjoy driving.

use to be an auto emissions inspector.

    4. no

    5. do you want to be alone doing line haul, regional? Do you want to be home every nite, do you plan on geting married?

    6. make sure it's a company with a union!!!!!!!!!!!

    7. they'll work you like a dog and be on your *** all the time!!!

my hubby is a truck driver, you must learn to work slowly never speed to get to your destination and to not look like a better worker then the other guys when you are being paid by the hour you must work slowly or the other men will hate you because they are milking the clock and won't rush because the company doesn't bend over backwards for them so they shouldn't bend over for the company. This job is hard on your body and expect to get hurt on the job within the first 2-3 years.

I cant answer all your questions, but I can tell you this.

My dad was a truck driver for 24 years.

He became a truck driver because his dad was a truck driver.

I learned that my dad disliked it and when the gas prices started to rocket the profits were no longer worth it. He sold his truck and he now runs a rental company.

But maybe you will like it. No one can make that choice for you but yourself.

It definetly is not a girl magnet and you get a big gut.
