a little Japanese help, if you would. . .?

What does "Yukinokatana" mean?

Does it mean "the snow's sword"? In what sense? Like "That which cuts the snow", or "the sword the snow uses to cut", or something entirely different.

I know I'm not giving you much to go on, but any insight would help me out here. Thanks in advance!

It just means 'the snow's katana' or 'katana of the snow'. 'No' is a tricky word....it usually indicates possession, but it can also be used to make an adjective. Hypothetically, 'yuki no katana' COULD imply a katana made of snow....in most cases, I think the best translation would be something like 'katana of the Snow' or 'the snow's katana'. How it relates to the snow would have to be based on context, but it's closer to 'the snow's sword' than 'that which cuts snow'.. A better translation for 'sword which cuts snow', if that is what you're after, might be zanyukiken.

Also, a katana is just one type of sword. A more generic term for sword is 'ken', which can mean any kind of sword or blade. There's probably a more specific word for 'sword', but I'm not sure what it is.

haha dont stick them all together. its Yuki no Katana. directly its 'snow of sword' but if you want it to make sense, then its the 'sword of snow'

dont tell me it has to do with anime or fantasy if so it means the sword's power has a lot to do with snow. like it can control the snow or what so ever. the sword of snow would make sense right? good luck
