  • Peter Gabriel lyrics help???

In the song, "Shaking the Tree", he starts off the live version saying something like,

"Moku lae lei, moku lae la"

And then with the chorus, he says,

"Suma yeargon, suma gon, we are shaking the tree"

Can anyone give me a rough translation of what he's saying? Also, please correct my pitiful attempt at spelling and pronunciation.

    Thanks in advance!!

  • To my Muslim brethren. . .?

Is it possible for a good muslim to never have entered a mosque or learned a lick of Arabic?

I mean, suppose one accepts the prophet's teachings, gives to charity, observes Ramadan. Is he still of the faith?

Suppose he has no inclination to go to Mecca at the moment.

  • Do you think that many people worship Satan without even realizing it?

What is Satan besides a metaphor for our infatuation with the five senses, power, lust, greed, etc.???

I don't think you have to perform "Satanic Rituals" in order to be completely under Satan's boot.

I think most of us are completely helpless when it comes to obeying our perverse minds. Anyone who puts money, sex, ego, posessions, social status, etc. as a priority are practicing Satanists.

And that includes me, and in all likelihood, YOU.

All we have is God's grace to save us from our own downward tendencies. . .left on our own, we'd run smiling to hell.

  • Christians, help me with a verse please??

"Ye are temples of the living God"?

I'm sorry I don't have the verse off-hand, but could someone please clarify this statement if it was indeed made by St. Paul?

Someone told me that it means that God resides within us, but I don't know for sure.

    Thanks Christians!!

  • How do you stop a stalker before they become one?

OK, let's get one thing straight, I'm a guy of EXTREMELY average looks, charm, wit, money, etc. . .so I'm not bragging here, but. . .

There's this lady who's taken a bit of an obsession with me, and I'm not happy about it. I have zero romantic interest in her, and in fact, I find her very presence disturbing. Unfortunately, we have common business which requires I see her once or twice a week.

At first I thought I could ignore her, and maybe she'd take the hint. But I guess she thought that I just didn't notice her, because she started getting completely obnoxious around me.

Then I thought about being nice and maybe accepting civility. Nope, I opened the floodgates to more harassment.

I lately resorted to being mean and rude to her, and all that does is make her doubly rude to me.

Is there a way to escape such inconsiderate behavior?

BTW: I'm sure she's a fine person, she's just got a problem. Most of us have probably been on both ends here, so I'm not judging.

  • Next time someone tells you they love animals, think about this. . .?

Suppose I told you that I love Tibetans, and when you come to my house you find one spayed and another in a cage.

And then you open my refrigerator and find pieces of dead Tibetans all in sauce and sandwiches.

Would you say that I am indeed a friend of Tibetans?

Of course, humans and animals cannot be compared on equal levels, but I do hope you see the inconsistencies in my claim.

BTW: I have nothing against Tibetans. . .I never met a Tibetan I didn't like. . .in fact, I never met a Tibetan.

  • What's a "Fishtula" (forgive my spelling)?

A man came into my hospital with a deep tube coming out of his abdomen, and I think it has something to do with urinary and fecal passing, but could someone please tell me a little bit of what I don't know?

I'm a student-volunteer, and wasn't able to get ample info from the pros, and didn't want to be a pest.

    Thanks!!

  • A tough question for the ladies. . .but all responses are welcome.?

Suppose there was a guy you've like for a long time, but for whatever reason, the two of you couldn't or didn't get it together.

Now suppose your best female friend hooks up with him (to whatever extent), knowing full-well how the two of you feel about each other.

What would you think and do? Really think about it. . .don't tell us what you'd WANT to do, but rather what you'd do about:

    A) Your best friend - Is she forgivable?

    B) The guy - Is he no longer date-able?

Again, give it some thought, and don't write spontaneously if you wouldn't act spontaneously.

  • Do waiters / waitresses EXPECT different tips from different cultural groups?

You know what's acceptable, and what will make you work extra hard when that person comes in again.

Is that different for a table of white men in suits from a table of, well let's just say, the opposite.

To sum up my question, how do you figure out EXPECTATIONS, ACCEPTABILITY, and FUTURE SERVICE with regard to ethnic differences?

  • Who's constantly pushing their religion on you?

I'm not really affiliated with any religion, but I hear so many of my "unattached" brothers and sisters on here talk about how Christians and others constantly push their religion on them.

I don't mean any disrespect (because I don't know any of you personally), but I think if you're a mature adult, you can say "No" to drugs, sex, salesmen, doctors, and religious folks.

Who knows, maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't think ANYONE has ever gone beyond their bounds to get me into their religion. And that goes for JW's and everyone else.

If your experience is different, please let us know how, so we can learn from your problem.

    Thanks in advance!

  • What makes for a HAPPY marriage?

I'm not just talking about a successful "til' death" marriage. Of course every marriage has its ups and downs, but what kind of things would actually make you LIKE the person you've chosen?

I know lots of married men do some really nasty things, and that's not right.

But I also seem to notice that so many married women completely forget fun and forgiveness, and make it their life-long duty to react and over-react to what their men do and say. Not all women, mind you, but some.

How can I avoid such troubles? (besides stay single)

  • Do you believe that "faith" is a choice?

In other words, if I, in my heart, don't feel that any God does or ever did exist, is there something I could do to save my soul?

  • Gather 'round for your Tuesday morning story.?

This guy is at the barber shop, getting his haircut, when he gets into a discussion with his barber over the existence of God. The barber claims that there is way too much injustice and suffering in the world for there to possibly be God.

The customer listens patiently while his hair is being cut, so as not to disturb his barber's fine work, and when everything is done, and he looks great, he pays the bill and heads down the street.

Five minutes later, he comes back with another man, whose hair looks as if it hadn't been cut in years, all knotted and dirty too.

"Well sir," says the man to his barber, "I just want you to know that I don't believe in the existence of barbers. . .for if there was such a thing, my friend here would not have such disastrous hair."

"Oh no!", said the barber, "This does not disprove the existence of barbers, but rather only shows what happens when people forget about their barber."

    Have a great day, everyone!

  • a little Japanese help, if you would. . .?

    What does "Yukinokatana" mean?

Does it mean "the snow's sword"? In what sense? Like "That which cuts the snow", or "the sword the snow uses to cut", or something entirely different.

I know I'm not giving you much to go on, but any insight would help me out here. Thanks in advance!
